CHAPTER 1
LONG TIME COMING
Long into the future, but not far from the present, a curious princess ran away to explore the world. Ten days past, the royal family sent out a search party to look for her. The next day, while walking in the Rena-Wat Forest, she tripped over the hillside and landed in the river below. Five days later, the guards ventured into the Wata-Ren Forest, the rival territory of the Metazioki tribe, where the young prince of the tribe was playing with his friends. When they saw the guards, they all scattered in multiple directions into the forest. The prince's friends made their way to the village. He started running, however, through the Wata-Ren Forest to lure the guards away from the village. When he reached the Dividend River, he jumped down the hillside and landed in the river below. When he surfaced he noticed what he thought to be one of his friends floating in the water. When he pulled her out, he noticed it was the princess. When she came to, the guards were running along the riverside. When the prince got up and ran away, the guards had noticed the princess. By the time the guards caught up to her, she was on her feet and running after the prince. Since then, she has been known as “the runaway princess.”
Twenty years later, the runaway princess has returned to the Renataki Kingdom with the help of her second oldest twins. “I am worried about your brother. It's been ten days since we split up back in the forest. I hope he is okay,” said 'princess' Avu-Ana as she stood up from behind the table. “Don't worry,” said Ana, who was sitting in the front window, “He will be fine. I just worry about how he will be when he finds out about Kinshi.”
At the same time, Dekkusu, who had stayed behind to fend off his father's men, was exhausted from running, he had to keep telling himself, “almost there,” as he climbed the stairs of the house. As soon as he opened the door, he said, with a sigh of relief,”Finally. Hello.” Avu-Ana ran to him, hugging him like every worried cliché mother does when reunited with their kid, saying, “Dekkusu! Thank god you're okay.” “Told you,” Ana said. Peeking around the corner, Dekkusu gave a quick, “Hi sis. Bye sis,” and was off again. Ana called after him, yelling, “where are you going?” Dekkusu replied, “Going to see Kinshi.” With that, he was off.
A block from her house, Dekkusu started calling out, “Kinshi!,” hoping he made it back in time. Little did he know that he was one year too late. “Go away, Dekkusu. I told you that we were done if you went into the Metazioki territory.” Dekkusu asked Kinshi,“Who is it?” Kinshi replied, “What do you mean?” Two years before, Dekkusu had asked if he made it back before she found someone, would she take him back. She said yes, she would. After reminding her of that, Kinshi asked, “Why do you want to know?” Dekkusu replied, “I might already know the guy and we could skip introductions.” “You are not to interfere with my relationship. It would be best if you just move on!”
Dekkusu knew he lost her and had used the two years to move on and just accept that they were just friends. “I have,” he replied, “But I am still your friend. A friend always has your back. Having your friends back means accepting their decisions unless it is dangerous. So who is it?” All of a sudden, Dekkusu heard a familiar voice calling in the distance.
It kept yelling, “Kinshi! Kinshi!” As it got closer, Dekkusu muttered, “No. No it can't be.” It was Rioku running down the street. In a split second, Dekkusu pulled Hellfire from its sheath, split the twins apart, and was in full out battle mode.“Not you again,” he said as he leaped out into the street and started running up the street directly across from Kinshi's house. “No, Dekkusu,” Kinshi yelled, bringing Dekkusu to a complete stop. He turned towards her. As he asked her why, the answer hit him. “Don't tell me...,” he started, and Kinshi interrupted him quickly, “Yes! Now do not!” Dekkusu stood in shock like a deer in headlights. “What Are you crazy?” is all he could say before Rioku recognized him
“Dekkusu!? What are you doing here?” Rioku asked. With a jump, Dekkusu slid back into the middle of the three-way intersection, turning towards Rioku, and brought the swords into a defensive position. “I would ask you the same Rioku,” he replied. Fearing bloodshed, Kinshi ran outside and jumped in between the two. “You know each other. Great!” she said with a awkward voice. Dekkusu, who had just recalled the conversation before, put one blade away, pointing the other at Rioku. “ Rioku, listen and listen well. You dare hurt Kinshi, I will hurt you! Got that?.” Kinshi, knowing what he meant, yelled “Dekkusu!...” Dekkusu interrupted her, yelling impatiently, “Well, Rioku? Answer me, You idiot!” “Stop that” yelled Kinshi as she stepped in front of the blade.
Normally, Dekkusu would stop if she did this, Rioku was not somebody he could let off the hook. “No, I will kill him,” Dekkusu said with all sincerity, “You know, When I give a death threat I do back it up. He is Rioku Lekituso The Metazioki Trap master.” “Your joking, right?” Kinshi knew of the trap master, but could not bring herself to believe what Dekkusu said until Rioku said, “No, it is not a joke. I am the Metazioki trap master. He turned to Dekkusu and said, “you have my word.”
“I better have your word or else. Later, Kinshi. Remember I will always have your back Later Rioku,” and Dekkusu started walking home to prepare for school. Suddenly he heard Rioku ask Kinshi, “will you go to the dance with me tonight?” Dekkusu stopped. “Wait... the dance is tonight?” he asked. Kinshi, in order, answered the two. “yes and yes.” Rioku asked, “Did you find a date, Dekkusu?” Dekkusu answer, “No.” He had one day to find a date. “how,” he thought.
