Chapter 1

It's Dark !

 

 

 

It still smell so good in here. Maybe I will eat a little more of the food until I find a way out.

 

Boy, it's really dark in here. I can't see a thing.

 

How did this happen? I should have listened .

 

I remember being inside in my home underground with my family getting ready to go out for the first time since I was hatched out my egg. This is a big moment for me. I had been picked to go out on a 50 ant mission.

 

I could have been one of the diggers. One of the Queens helpers. A baby care worker or even one of the security ants.

 

I am a hurter. My job is to go out with a unit and find then bring back food to our family. It is a big job and a honor to support the family .

 

Many ants want different jobs but only a hand full get the job they want. I was one of the lucky ones. 

 When you have time on your hands you really get to thinking about the past. Life is funny that way.

 

It's really getting late.

 

Mom might be worried about me not coming home with the rest of the family. I wonder if the family have went home without me. Maybe they will noticed I am missing and come find me. 

 

 

 It's dark and I am alone. I feel a little sad.

 

I have a big family. There are a million or so of us.

We are always busy and on the move. Winter is coming so we are collecting all the food we can before it's to late.

 

Some of my older brothers and sisters were lining up getting ready to move out.

My bigger size Aunts and Uncles help us smaller ants into our places so we would know what to do by following the older siblings.

 

Big brother at the front makes his wings flap then lift his self off the ground so all of us could see him.

 

This was the signal. It was time to move out.

 

We marched until our whole unit made it out of our home.

 

So, this is what the outside looks and smell like.Bright so bright. Not like our home underground.

The sun is out but the wind is blowing it's cold air. There is something sweet in the air.

 

The weather is changing again. I am afraid of the change but I am not alone.

 

Big brother leaves us into the green forest with the wet brown stuff on the ground.

It feels different to my six feet. It don't taste very good either.

 

As we continue moving until Big brother gave us the signal to stop.

 

We made it to a hard gray place with rocks on it. It took us a full day to make it to the tall brown tree with holes in it. I was happy.

 

We finally made it.

 

Big brother went first then we all followed behind him. It was different again. What type of place was this?

 

It was bright, warm, and the smell made my belly feel funny.

 

What is that? What are those tall things moving around on two feet?

 

Big brother made us stop and take another way away from the two feets things.

 

Now , we are moving up a bright thin tree. We go up and up until we finally make it to the flat new land.

 

It smelled so good up here. There were so many different types of foods here. So many colors. My family and I were happy.

 

Big brother and my other siblings started collecting food and making their way back down the thin tree.

 

I smelled something so sweet but it was inside of this white thing.

 

I know I shouldn't. They told me to never do it but I did. I left the line and went towards to very sweey smell on my own.

 

I looked at it up and down. Then made a circle around it. How was I going to get in it?

 

I'm an ant.

 

I did what comes natural to me. I climbed up the white thing and seen my prize. What a sweet prize it was.

 

It was covered in fruits and berries. What a delightful find. I went to my prize and ate until I couldn't anymore.

 

Sadly, it was time to go back to the unit and home to my family. I grabbed a mouth full of the sweets and started climbing out the white thing but somthing happened.

 

It gotten dark and I couldn't find my way out !

 

That is my story and that's where I am now.

 

I'm alone and scared. It's been a while. My family have left me.

 

There !

 

Did you hear it ? That sound?

 

There it is again !

 

A light!

 

Big brother !

 

I am saved.

 

I make my way to Big brother and he carried me out the white thing, threw the air, and out the tall tree.

 

Being outside heading home made me cry.

 

White stuff was falling from the sky. What was that? It's so cold now.

 

I really didn't care anymore. We were going home.

 

I felt so happy.

 

The unit had made it back home and Big brother had came back for me.

 

I was home again with my family. That was the best feeling in the world.

 

I was back home.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Chapter 2

 Back Home

 

 

Big brother sit me down on the white ground and hurried me into our house. I was so cold that I was shaking but the deeper we went underground the warmer it felt.

 

My mom was waiting for me. She didn't look happy.

 

Our mother is the Queen of all of us. She is also the largest ant I have ever seen. Her wings were gold and blue. Her eyes were dark green. 

 

I walk over to her and bowed my head. She looked me over then lowered her head to mine. I was happy. Everything had worked out.
