The remote village Bhimanadoddi is a community of people belongs to various castes, creeds and belief. In this village, there are houses belonging to Brahmins, Vakkaligas, Lingayats, goldsmith, barber, Muslims, Christians and scheduled castes & scheduled tribes. Inspite of the different caste, creed and belief the villagers are mutually bound in various economic and social functions to maintain social harmony. Their sense of unity and understanding shows, when they participate in all the festivals. Remote village Bhimanadoddi may appear isolated and removed from civilization, but it is compensated by an enriching cycle of ceremonies and rituals. The regular involvement of the villagers in Ganesha Chaturthi, Dasara, Deepavali, Kaarahunnime, Satyanarayana puja, Bakrid, Moharaam and Good Friday in natural unity and cohesion of village society. Ramachar Bevinur an old man and priest of the Maruti Temple read out Puranas, deliver Religious discourses, on special occasions. Daily pujas and distribution of teertha and prasadam in the temple keep alive in the villagers the sense of existence of God. Participation in devotional activities, villagers had the great belief that it will protect them from famine, disease, death and despair. If the rainfall fails, the villagers fall at God’s feet. There is also a temple of Goddess Mariyamma, who is popularly called as a “Graama Devata”. Every year devotees arrange annual jatra of Goddess Mariyamma. People from the surrounding villages attend the Mariyamma jatra with full faith. They enjoy participating in the various adventurous games and engage themselves in a shopping in the makeshift shops. During this period a cattle fair is arranged by the gram panchayat. There is a masjid and a church for a lone Muslim and a Christian. These minority people were treated equal with the majority Hindu people. There was a sense of perfect understanding between them. Muslims and Christians participate in Hindu festivals and vice versa. There was no communal harmony since 60 years.

This tiny secluded village setting is strategic in view of the noble cause to develop a most backward village to a model village of India. Dheerendra Manjunatha Shanubhoga got an inspiration from some of the developed villages of India. He visited these model villages along with his wife and stayed there for few days. During their stay in these villages, both interacted with the persons responsible for the development. This experience has helped them to go ahead with the task. Bhimanadoddi village is an enchanting story of how the struggle of poor villagers becomes a tragic reality. The impossible task was possible through the wonderful ideas of a delightful local man Dheerendra, an ex- IFS official, who commands not only wisdom and humor but a rare quality of team spirit. As far as the technique is concerned a deliberate attempt to follow a unique method of traditional systems with modern outlook. Novel begins with the opening lines of nature’s description of sun rise and its beautiful colorful rays on the river Tarangini. Bhimanadoddi a tiny remote village is situated on the banks of this river. The various activities of people are highlighted. The news of developments that shook the village was spread not only in India but in the other parts of the world. The novel is significant because of its noble theme. It is a story of the four generation people spreading over in about 60 years. The hero of the novel Dheerendra belongs to second generation. His tireless efforts to change the condition of the village were overwhelmingly appreciated by the villagers and felt the sense of community and freedom for the welfare of the village. Dheerendra’s vision and foresight was extremely brilliant. His systematic and intelligent approach on the issues confronting the village development influenced the villagers in joining the mainstream of movement to reach the goal. The tension between the village community and the vested interest people was at the peak level of do or die situation. Ultimately the victory goes to the villagers under the able leadership of Dheerendra. The novel is divided into thirty chapters. First chapter deals with the beautiful picture of the model village Tranginipura (earlier Bhimanadoddi). Second chapter deals with the first generation living peaceful life with the limited resources. Subsequent chapters are dealt with the second generation of the two families became cruel and created vitiated atmosphere. The hero of the novel Dheerendra was born in the second generation of Shanubhoga family of kind hearted people. There are about eighty people appear in one context or the other in the novel. About 25 to 30 people directly or indirectly interact with Dheerendra. The end is happy as well as tragedy. It is happy for the villagers of the Bhimanadoddi. The village has become a most advanced model village of the country. It is a tragedy for those vested interests, who indulged in unlawful activities for their personal gain. These wicked persons were sentenced 15 years imprisonment with one year rigorous punishment. When the news reporters asked Dheerendra how he was able to achieve the goal? His reply was simple. He said the credit must go to his wife, friends and the villagers.
