It was going to be a normal day. I was going to hang out with all my friends at school, then, after school, I was going to go to my One-Act Play practice. It was going to be a normal day. I hoped.

BEEP, BEEP, BEEP! My hand reached out blindly to grasp the alarm as it went off. My thoughts were groggily crossing my mind, vaguely knowing I should get up, but just feeling to lazy and tired to. A good ten minutes passes by while I just lay there. another five passes. Finally I force myself out of bed, and start getting ready for school. The bus should be coming by very soon, in about ten minutes. I slept in too much... again. I hurriedly finish dressing and am grateful that my bag is already packed and ready to go. I hear a noise of a engine, and glance out my window to see my bus racing passed my house, and I know I have to get out there before it passes by again. I zoom out the door and feel the brisk morning air against my face. I can just barely see the bus out over the rose bushes that cover my yard. The bus arrives.
On the bus I meet my friend Abby, who was saving a seat for me. I sit next to her and the bus starts moving forward. We sit in silence. The bus makes a stop at two other homes so that we ca pick up the girl whose name I don't know, and finally at Justin's House. Then we are off to meet the transfer bus, were we all get off of Bonnie's bus and onto Amanda's. On this bus I sit with my really good friend Kristianna, and we listen to my iPod. We drop the high schoolers off, and head to the middle school. There me and Kristi meet up with Cory, Danielle, Kelsey, Sadie, Kristen, and Mackenzie.
"NATALIE!" Sadie squealed when she saw me. Squeezing me into a tight hug she asks, "Where were you yesterday?!"
"Ha ha, I was sick, silly," I answer her. And I had been. My Mother, of course, thought I was faking it, mostly because I usually was, but I wasn't yesterday morning. I looked away from Sadie, and over to my friend Danielle. Danielle was heading down a dark path in life, and I was really hoping I would be able to save her, But, sometimes I thought all was lost with her. I understood that she has alway had a hard life, and I also knew her little four year old sister, Mackenzie Kray, was missing. Sort of.
"Hey Danielle," I say, giving out a small smile. I've known Danielle for as long as I can remember, but we had only became friends the year before. We became fast friends, and I was starting to notice her pull away. Not to much, but just a little. She had gotten into some pretty bad stuff within the past year, things like cigarettes, pot, alcohol, and probably much worse things. I was Ms.Squeaky-Clean, never causing trouble, had average grades, and not doing most of the things people in my school had done. I was late a lot though, with 17 tardies, and 11 absences.
"Hey Natalie," She grins back. The smile didn't reach her eyes. I knew something was wrong, and made a mental note to ask her later.
