through a meat grinder and her head, which must have been bleeding from the nasty hit it took on the way down, was pounding intensely.

Several moments passed by before she was able to move. Her vision refocused itself and Melina shook her head in a vain attempt to get rid of the cobwebs that clouded her mind. She forced herself up into a better position, only to receive the same mind-numbing shock of pain as she'd been feeling a moment ago. That was when she noticed it. Her eyes grew as wide as saucers as she stared down at her leg -- a matted, mangled mess of scraped flesh and crimson. Perhaps more horrifying than the exterior of the wound was the large white lump that seemed to be poking into her skin, threatening to break it and slide out at any given moment.

It was only when Melina saw the severity of the injury that the pain truly kicked in.

A horrified, anguished scream erupted from her lips as she grasped the broken limb tightly in her hands.

She fought back the bile piling up in her throat, but the sight of the injury made her sick. It was all she could do to keep from vomiting, and she couldn't stop the tears that ran freely down her face.

She'd never felt such a horrible, intense pain in her life.

"Dammit," Melina choked out in between pained sobs, "Dammit, dammit, dammit."

"Stroke a' genius, Mel...haha...euhh....uurk!"

Another furious shot of pain erupted from her wounds.

She didn't have much time left. What would she do with her last few seconds? Fuck, it was so hard to think. Her vision started to fade...

Suddenly she remembered something. It was when she was just a little girl. Her mother had been teaching her to ride a bicycle, and she’s fallen off. He mother held her while she cried, and kissed the scrape to make it feel better. That night, the two of them stayed up and watched any movie Melina wanted. Tears crept up into her eyelids and spilled down her cheeks. Blood crept up her throat and spilled down her chin. Her memories started to blend together. She didn’t want this. She wanted her mother. She wanted to go home. She had to say it. She tried to choke out those three words that would prove so much.

"...M-m-mommy! I....." She spoke as loud as she could, fighting to retain consciousness. "I..."

"...I...”

"...."
