"Hi there! Hows your day going?" "Mine is going just fine!" I say to the hulking form as I try to slowly move around it. The great beast stares at me as I slide on my back. It gives a huge snort and charges again crashing through the shrubs and bushes of the forest. Jumping up onto my feet I squeak and am flung into a flash back up. Which unfortunately happens to be at the worst possible time, just as the creature smashes me right in the chest. I fly and hit a tree with an "Umph." and everything turns black.

(The flash back)

" "BAIT NEEDED"

You must be fast.

You must have great stamina.

You must be 5-6 feet tall.

You must not be scared easily.

You must like animals.

You must be good at puzzles.

You must like riddles.

You must like...

As I look at this flyer I can't help but think, Wow there are alot of requirements to be bait. I chuckle as I think of it. "You are in the woods waiting for the time to show yourself. When all of a sudden "BAM!" You get hit in the back and you have to run for your life. You race around and wonder why your buddies haven't caught the guy in a trap." The thought continues for a while and I chuckle and shake my head. "Well I need the money, and I meet the requirements. So... Nothing to lose eh?"

I look down at the piece of paper with the direction on it and look back up at the building. It is old and looks to be falling apart. "Well this is where the directions lead." I shrug and push onward into the building. My stride is of one who is determined to win, who will stop at nothing. Of course that lasts till I reach the front desk and am asked if I was Coffee. I pail and stare at the elderly woman behind the desk as if I just saw a ghost. She raised a thin eyebrow and cleared her throat. "Umm... how... uh.. yes?" I said looking down and blushing. She sighs and leans over to a little microphone on the desk and says into it, "Shes here." The door behind her opens and she motions for me to go on.

As I walk down the long hall I get the feeling that I am going down. I look back behind me and see that my suspicion was correct. I look back in front of me just in time to see a door. I pause and wonder if I should knock. Just as I reach up to do so the door opens. The room is bright and warm. There are a few padded chairs facing each other to the left and a desk strait ahead. There is man standing in the middle of the room. "Welcome." He says cheerily. "Please come in and sit down." He continues motioning to the chairs. I walk in and sit in one of them. He sits in the other.

"So, you want to be bait. Is that so Coffee?" He asked looking at me seriously. "Umm how do you know that my nickname is Coffee, and that I was coming here and that it would be today?" I asked him unable to keep it in any longer. "We see more then you know." Was all he said. I got a chill. "Well my name is Jone, and yes I want to be bait." That just didn't sound right when I said it. "Ok. I will need you to sign a contract and forum stating that if you get hurt its not our fault." He gave me a wink when he said that. I gave a hesitant little laugh. He stood up and walked over to the desk. I followed him and looked down at the paper he pushed my way.

It took me the better part of an hour to fill out all the paperwork and when I was done he said with a pat on my back, "Welcome to the team! Your in sector 6 which is in the forest. Meet me out front in five days with a pack. You are free to go." I had no other choice but to leave. I got back home in a sort-of dazed state. I stumbled up the stares and fell onto my bed. Just before I let sweet darkness take me away till morning, my cat jumped up onto my back and started to kneed. I sighed and fell asleep.

Five days later I met with the unknown man in front of the building and he took me over to a jeep. I got in and he drove in the direction of the woods. I was startled to find that I was still in a dazed state. He was saying something about invisible beings that only a few gifted could see unless the beings willed it otherwise. He said that they were neutral and that they didn't help out in any of the missions unless it involved them. I thought about this for a while.

We came to a wood fort. When he drove in everyone greeted him with a, "Hey sir!" and a salute. I watched all of this in confusion. We got out and I could feel all the eyes on me. Seeing if I fit their standards and seeing if I would be accepted. It was a moment filled with tension. I looked up and into the eyes of someone who looked to be the leader of this place. I didn't back down when he met my gaze. There was a pause and he gave a little nod. The tension and friction went away instantly and everyone went back to a good mood. The guy who drove me here gave me a good luck and he was off.

My first mission just happened to be a sit and wait for the creature to spot you and then run like hell. I was to do all this while the others sat back and watched and waited for the right moment to spring the trap, and being the new guy they were going to wait as long as possible before they sprung it.

Easy. So I sat there half crouched and watched and listened for anything. Then it happened. First it started out as a tingling, then it turned into a warm feeling in a certain direction. Just as I began to wonder what was happening, trees burst apart in the direction that the warm feeling was. A huge beast loomed where they were just a moment before.

It swings it's head back and forth trying to find whatever it was that caught its attention. Which I found out was me. It spotted me and gave a loud snort. I watched all this in a paralyzed fear. "I now understand the "You must not be scared easily." line in the flyer." The creature heard this soft noise and charged. I stood up straight and jumped to the side as it swung it's head. I ran as fast as I could in the direction of the trap. There were some bushes in the way and as I gave a great leap over them I felt a huge hand grab me. The hand flung me back and I landed on my back next to some more shrubs and bushes. The beast walks towards me. It stops about ten feet in front of me and stares. "
