[~':* I know there's something in the wake of your smile.
I get a notion from the look in your eyes, yea. *:'~]
She leaned her head back and sighed heavily. The warm, bubbly water rose up to her neck as she sunk down a little more. She took a deep breath and slipped under the water fully now. Time flew when she did this. She had no clue how long she had been under, it was only when she heard the chimes that she came back up. Slowly she dried her hands off and picked up her ‘gram. ‘Grams were their main form of communication, they were little touch-screen pads that you could use to send messages and call others. "Dimi <3" was the incoming ID. A shaky breath was taken before she pressed the accept button and waited. Within seconds a mini Dimitri stood just above the screen of her ‘gram.
"Hey Mitte," he said in his soft and comforting voice, a happy smile lay on his lips. Dimitri Scott Barnes was nineteen years old, he stood an amazing six feet, seven inches, had the body of a surf-god, and the only man who could make her want something more then life itself.
"Hey," she said in her quiet, girly voice.
"You're all wet....Are you soaking again?," He asked worriedly, happiness still shone in his hypnotizing, dark, brown eyes. It was clear to her that he had just been spending time with Jake, his lover and 'soul mate'. She shook her head lightly. He always gramed when she was soaking.
"Yeah...It’s been a long day," she said sleepily, suddenly happy he couldn't see that she had been crying again.
"I really wish you would stop soaking. One day you might not wake up you know," He said in his same old 'puppy dog' voice. He always got like that when he tried to get her to stop.
"I can’t Dimi. You know that. It’s like an addiction now," she said softly. He sighed and shook his head.
"You know I care about you a lot Mitte...And if Jake and I wer-"
"I know." she interrupted him. They both sighed simultaneously and she couldn't help but giggle. He grinned and winked at her.
[~':* You've built a love but that love falls apart.
You're little piece of heaven turns to dark. *:'~]
A sob snapped her back to reality, her head shot up and she looked around for the source of the noise. Another tear fell onto her hand, that’s when she realized the sob had come from her own mouth. She should have known it was her. She always ended up crying when she thought about him. Any of them for that fact.
[~’:* Listen to your heart, when he's calling for you.
Listen to your heart, there's nothing else you can do.
I don't know where you're going
and I don't know why, but listen to your heart
before you tell him goodbye. *:’~]
Her name was Mitte Puhas, which meant “not pure”. And it fit. It fit her too perfectly. Another cart drove by and its driver glared at her. ‘Wonder what he’s so angry about?’ She thought and sighed. Her eyes turned up to the sky as just one more ship passed over. Involuntarily her hands drifted up to her temples. She felt the tingle that ran through her body, the never disappearing reminder of what she had become. A freak
. That’s what she was, a freak
. She felt herself blink back more tears as she looked over her shoulder, her eyes still to the sky. The seven moons were visible and almost in perfect alignment. Tonight, in exactly 7 hours, the moons would align and all hell would break loose.
[~’:* Sometimes you wonder if this fight is worthwhile.
The precious moments are all lost in the tide, yea. *:’~]
It happened once every three years; portals from other worlds would open where a new freak was. The said freak would have to fight off the monsters that had come to fight them, if they were to succeed then one of the Guardians would appear to them before their fight. Though they would not know who or what the Guardian was until after the fight.
[~’:* They're swept away and nothing is what is seems,
The feeling of belonging to your dreams. *:’~]
He sat outside, their fingers entwined with one another’s. He looked up when he felt the electricity of his lovers touch on his arm.
“You know what tonight is, right?” His lover asked as he stared into his eyes. He shook his head and looked at him confused. He followed his eyes up to the seven moons.
“Oh…” He looked down to the ground, “Mitte.” His voice was dead and broken. It had been nearly a year since she had left and his heart still ached at the thought of her. Though they had expressed their love for one another her absence crushed him. Why did she have to leave? No one here wanted her to go…. He sighed and tried to push his thoughts away but it was impossible. She had ran, scared of herself and her ‘powers’. He never saw her use her powers. Can it be true? Can she really be a freak? He shook is head, trying to deny but he knew in his heart it was true.
She had left them because of what she was, a freak.
[~’:* Listen to your heart, when he's calling for you.
Listen to your heart, there's nothing else you can do.
I don't know where you're going
And I don't know why, but listen to your heart
Before you tell him goodbye. *:’~]
He grabbed her elbow roughly and yanked her around.
“Don’t do this Mitte.” He growled in her ear and looked at her with hard, pleading eyes. She just pulled away from him and glared.
“I have to. Staying here would endanger you all and I can’t bear to do that. Do you not understand that I am trying to prevent harm to you all?” She asked in a bitter tone. Her eyes, compassionless yet loving, betrayed her tone. She pulled her arm from his hold and slowly backed away. When she was a reasonable distance from him she turned and ran, tears flying behind her.
It was then that he ran after her, crying himself. Jake and Erin had come out then and ran after them. Though Jake was able to hold Dimi back Erin kept on running.
“MITTE! Come back!” She screamed and collapsed to her knees, no longer able to see through her tears much less stand. Jake and Dimi walked over to her and helped her up. The three crying friends walked back to the house and stared out the window, watching their best friend disappear in a flash of light.
[~’:* And there are voices that want to be heard.
So much to mention, but you can't find the words. *:’~]
She stood there and stared at the moons. The capital city was too bright for her so she had soon found herself standing on a cliff, over looking it all.
“Two more hours…” She whispered as she checked the moons. A small, thin, silver rectangle fell out of her pocket and she picked it up. The screen light up and a picture of her and all her friends appeared. Her ‘gram, she had forgotten all about it. Though she wouldn’t need it she kept it. It was like a comfort blanket, something that reminded her that she was safe. Even if she wasn’t, she needed it. It held her to them, just incase she ever could go back. With a sigh she looked up at the sky again and began to day dream.
[~’:* The scent of magic, the beauty that's been
when love was wilder than the wind.*:’~]
She held her heart and stared up at the seven moons. Mitte was on her mind again, her best friend, her sister, how she missed her. They were always together, no matter what. Together forever, its what they had always said.
“I guess that forever has become never…” She whispered in a heart broken voice and turned back to go inside. They were sitting out in the lawn, looking up at the moon, thinking about her no doubt. She was all the three of them ever thought about, their little piece of sunshine, their little Mitte.
[~’:* Listen to your heart, when he's calling for you.
Listen to your heart, there's nothing else you can do.
I don't know where you're going
And I don't know why, but listen to your heart
Before you tell him goodbye. *:’~]
The Guardians waited for their Charges. He had been signed onto a girl named Mitte. He thought nothing of it. Just another job, just another fight to watch, just another life ruined by their mutations. Even though he swore he would never get close to a charge something deep inside him began to awaken. He didn’t feel it yet but he would soon enough. Soon enough everything would change, for them all.
[~’:* I don't know where you're going
And I don't know why,
But listen to your heart
Before you tell him goodbye.*:’~]
