Blood trails the walls of the crĂšme apartment. I just stare at the maidsâ body, propped up on a mahogany chair by the dresser. I walk over to examine the body. Two small holes in the neck. Her body is cold and lifeless. No pulse thought that was easy to determine.
Probably bite marks.
I let the body sit there but lock the doors adjunct to the other rooms. I slip the silver key into my pocket and proceed for the Masterâs bedroom. As I walk into his room, I see a man sitting on his bed. His black curls dangle over the edge of his forehead. He looks up and his icy blue eyes lock onto my red ones. I walk forward trying not to look back.
âMaddeline.â He barks my name
âMasterâ I drop to one knee
âCome hereâ He orders
As I walk over to him, I fall. I rise only for my face to be in front of his. My heels are on the other side of the room. I reach for them and they fly into my hands. He beckons me to sit by him and his eyes flicker with rage. I flinch but place my pump in my purse. His hands move to my face. I just sit there hoping He would remove his hands.
No, you want them there like you want him.
His gaze has not moved for a long time. I notice He is not focused on my face anymore but on the pulse in my neck. I shiver visibly and his fangs pop out. I immediately push him away and stand up. He seems shocked that I did not stay. I curtsy and say âMy Lordâ and walk out of the room. Personally fangs creep me out. They are my pet peeve.
I must inform you of something though. I am a vampire myself. I have fangs, the look, but not the craving of blood or the strength. I gave that up to become human. What a mistake huh? Not really, I learned that humans consume and give back as well as contribute to a better cause. I walk to the living room and sit in a recliner. My friend Cherry walks over to me and announces that today is expression day. I give my opinion about an early asked question. Another maid asked aloud:
âWhy do you NOT like vampires?â I respond
âAll vampires do are take and take then kill for no apparent reason and then they just are selfish creatures in general.â I mouth intelligently
âWhy do they take, kill for no apparent reason, and are selfish creatures?â I hear a male voice ask but do not regard it as the Masterâs presence until He sits down but even then, I continue like it was a normal conversation
âJust as humans have evolved for the better, vampires have evolved for the worst. If vampires knew how to control their thirsts, we wouldnât have been hunted to the point of extinction long ago.â I answer
âWhy are you so skeptic of my kind?â He asks looking into my eyes
âNot only of yours my lord, mine as well. My previous kind were kind of barbaric. They were savage and in a way civilized. They knew the weaknesses of other vampires just by looking at them. Selfish really.â I counter
âExplain the first part to me MaddelineâŠâ As I look into his eyes, my eyes change color
âI was a vampire before I came here. You might say I am still one. I gave up the blood lust and strength to become human. I learned that if we give back things seem to flow much better within a civilization.â I explain
âYouâre lying to me. Youâre lying through your throat. How easy it would be to rip it out and save it for later.â He threatens me
âAnd vampires were born cruel too. Lying, deceitful, spiteful, anger-driven, manipulative, bloodthirsty, evil incarnated, bastards as well as bitchesâŠâ I hiss and He looks surprised
âThat barely proves anything, that you hiss. You could have learned that from a TV show. Show me something better.â He scoffs at me, rising to look down at me
I stand up and look him in the eyes. He smiles back at me and I set a straight face. We look at each other for some time. Studying how the other may react and then consider the other million possibilities. I breath and I hear them growing. I hear them break from my regular canines and become sharper; longer. He runs his finger across one of them and pushes it in. He draws his own blood and I gasp. My tongue automatically licks his wound and it heals slowly. I guess I still have the magic touch now and again.
âHow is this possible?â He asks intrigued
âSome other time maybeâŠthat left my mouth aching, my tongue throbbing, my saliva oozing for more, and my eyes changing constantly.â I walk off only for him to grab my arm
âCome with me.â He drags me into his room
âWhat do you want?â I ask him scared
âDo not fear me for we used to be kin. I want you to call the family you belong or belonged too and tell them to host my yearly get together.â He asks
âDoneâŠnow can I go?â I ask and He seems shocked
âYou make me feel as if youâre not telling me somethingâŠwhat are you not telling me?â He locks the door and steps closer to me
âNothing Sire that is allâŠlet me leaveâ I say seriously
âNo, no. StayâŠlay down, relaxâŠTALKâ He pushes force into that last word
âI said noâŠnow moveâ I try and shove him but He pushes me against the wall
âHow about I fuck you first and then you can goâŠâ He starts kissing my neck
âPlease, I beg of you, stopâ I ask
âDonât you want itâŠjust try it and see if you like itâŠif not then I will NEVER do it againâ He bargains
âI SAID STOPâ My claws lengthen before He realizes it and I stab him where his heart should be
âwhat-what? WhoaâŠâ I lay him on the bed and walk out of the roomâŠthe other maids see my bloody hands and they rush in the room to see the Master bleeding
âMargret! Why wont He stop bleeding? Why wont He heal?â They screech
âOnly I can heal himâŠStep back for He may need blood after.â I lick his chest and they start to heal
âGET OUT!â He orders them and they lock the door
His eyes flutter open to my face and his hand slaps me. I fly into the wall and I shakily stand up. I drop to my knees and He stands in front of me. I push him across the room and He hitâs the wall face-first. I get up and go up to him. He looks happy for some reason. I kick him in his groin and He crumples up. He stands up quicker than I anticipate and throws me on the bed.
âWhere was I before you almost killed me-oh rightâ He kisses me and travels down my neck
âPlease Master, I am not one to beg but please stopâ I beg
âWhy?â He questions
âI donât want to poison youâŠif you drink my blood you will feel sick because vampire still courses through my veinsâ I warn him
âGood pointâŠâ He rises off of me
âNext time I am going to let you dieâŠâ I get off of the bed
He uses his super speed to stand in front of me. He looks down out of pity and jealousy. What can He be jealous about? I walk past him only for him to grab my hand gently. What is wrong with him? He is never gentle with anything! I stop and turn around and face him. He steps closer unsurely and leans down to kiss me. I kiss him slowly and He is gentle with it. We both draw back when his door knob is shaken for entrance.
He goes to the door and opens it. A woman comes through. She is my height, my eye color, and she has the same tattoo I have on my ankle. I cross my arms and she hangs her head in shame. This is my sister Dianna. I am always the last resort when she gets into trouble. The Master looks shocked when I wrap my hair up and it shows a variety of tattoos on my neck.
âMaddelineâŠTake your shirt off.â He pants in my direction
âFuck you Demetrius Picasso.â I hiss at him
âI will have you before the week is over.â He hisses at me violently
âKeep trying MasterâŠif I hadnât told you what I told you, you would be dead on the floor right now.â I grab her arm and stalk out of his room
Right before I pass through his doorway, He kisses me. As soon as she stepped out of his room, his door slammed. What a bad temper tantrum that was. I drag her to my room and lock the door. I tell her to get on her knees and look up at me. She does. I cloak myself in fire and I light her on fire. She cries but she does not scream. I drench her in water. I lock her in a cage of earth and freeze the bars and floor around it. I make the air hard to breath in and light the cage on fire. I tell her to think about what she has done and she understands completely.
I go back to the Masterâs room. I knock on it only for it to be opened by Cherry. She just has a robe on and I decide to talk to him later. I go to the living room and meditate Indian style. I make pebbles float around me evenly. I make water run around me in a veil. I make fire form a circle around me and air cloaks the whole thing from interruptions.
I hear knocking on the door so I use my powers to make a earth hand. I reach across the living room and turn the door knob. A man walks in to see me turn to look at him. I smile and tell him welcome. I hear him crouch and inch closer to investigate. I hear Demetriâs footsteps come into the hallway. I feel the sound vibrations of my name being spoken. I cut all of my elements off and I am suddenly in complete darkness.
It is so cold in here. So frigid and my powers do not work. I must try to cloak myself in light. I think of the sun on my skin, the warmth of its follicles. The light bursts from within my body and the darkness is no more. I open my eyes to see Demetri about to pounce. I look at him with an amused look. He seems lost but still on alert.
âWhat is wrong with you?â I ask but it comes out in another language
âWhat did she just say?â They both ask
I run up to Demetri. He pushes me away and I fall to the floor. I curl up into corner and He approaches me slowly. I push him away and He looks shocked. I start to cry tears of fire. He helps me stand up. I hug him and He smiles. The other man looks lost. I look at Demetri and He seems happy. I kiss him and I transfer words through to him. He nods and I spin around once. I feel my light particles dying and I sink to my knees. I feel my
