âClankâ the big, familiar old grandfather clock struck twelve, âitâs midnightâ I thought petrified, âhere we go againâ. My body was shaking uncontrollably with fear as I waited for what was to come, I gripped the ends of the warm, purple, homemade quilt against myself but I knew it would make no difference; the fear was just too much, threatening to ooze out of me in the form of a scream. Then it began, slowly, slowly and then rising, the music, âoh, the soft, sad, spooky and frightening musicâ. It played every night precisely when the clock struck twelve, at around midnight and finished at exactly 3am, and the most mysterious and frightening thing was that it came from the big, black forbidden door at the far east of the big, old, white bricked mansion on Goulbourn screams St. My heart was beating rapidly as I lay on my soft, warm, creamy, queen bed, the pain was piercing through my heart like a newly sharpened, dagger. The melody, the notes, and the words they were telling a story, such a horrific and sad story, tears were swelling in my eyes daring to come out, it took all my strength to stop the tears from pouring out and forming a sea of sadness and despair. Suddenly I had a weird feeling, a kind of urge to get up and investigate, to see who is making this chilling and beautiful song full of grief and sorrow, to see why they are making this aching melody full of heartache. Then it began âAmyâ, âAmyâ, âhelp meâ, âPleaseâ, âI beg of youâ, âhelpâ the strange, familiar yet scary and dreadful voice, it was the voice of a young, scared, petrified girl that I had never seen but had heard, I just knew it. So I closed my eyes and let the music sweep in and take over my now cold, shaking body. âHwooooâ I sucked in my breath as I was suddenly yet swiftly taken into a new dimension. âPlonkâ I suddenly fell on a hard, cold, wooden surface, it was dark and gloomy as I looked around, âohâ I suddenly realised with a shock that I was still in my bedroom but there was something different about it. âWait a minute I thought to myselfâ I never had a gold bed, a gold plated chest drawer, or even a creamy white gold dressing table with an antique looking mirror. When I looked closer I realised that they all looked antique, something which you will find in a castle or palace and they did look very expensive, lavish and luxurious. While I was trying to stand up I nearly toppled over but caught myself just in time on the edge of the humongous king sized bed. I looked down at myself and saw that instead of wearing my pink, duck pyjamas I had been wearing earlier, I was wearing a lavish, silk, purple nightgown. All of a sudden I heard a knock at the door, âcan I come in Princess Sophieâ, it was the voice of a young girl or so I thought, ây, y,y,y,yess, you mayâ I commanded. The door knob turned and in came a young girl who was no younger than me, around 17, âThe queen, your mother wants to meet you in her bedroom urgentlyâ she mumbled hastily and with that she scurried out of the room shutting the door in the process. âMy mother, Princess Sophie, what is going onâ, I thought aloud to myself, âand for goodness sake how am I to know where the queenâs bedroom isâ. I gently walked over to the large creamy door and opened it, peering out of my bedroom I could see that the hallway was lit brightly with flaming candles and the wall was adorned with beautiful pictures, pictures of real people and from the way I see it I think it was the early kings, queens, princes and princesses that ruled the kingdom before my (so called) mum.
As I was walking a young man who looked to be in his teens approached me. He had light, brown wind-blown hair that made you want to swoon, lovely, blue eyes that made you want to drown in them, his skin tone was an olive colour that made you go all fluttery inside and he had this boyish look and attitude towards him that made your heart melt with lust and desire, as he saw me appraising him he had this shy but mischievous smile on him but as I looked closer at his eyes he had this dangerous glint in them that said âI can be nice when I want to be, but I can be nasty when I have to beâ. âPrincess, you must hurry, your mother is not feeling well, and please follow meâ he muttered hurriedly, âoh, his voice, his sweet and luxurious voiceâ it was like tasting honey, it had a daringness to it while being sickly sweet. He was giving me a weird stare, I quickly realised that I was gawking at him like some old love bird, âbgbjhgygâ I replied, WHAT!!! Was I saying, I quickly looked down and blushed crimson red, he probably thought I was a fool. He smiled as if he understood which made me blush even more and he quickly led the way. As I was following this young, handsome and attractive man towards the queenâs room I was astounded with the beauty that this palace (and people) held, this place was just beautiful, there were flowers everywhere in all different sorts of colours and varieties, there were lilacs, roses, jasmines, frangipanis and many more in pinks, blues, purples, yellows and hundreds of colours from the rainbow. The young man stopped abruptly and I nearly crashed into his broad masculine body but had managed to stop myself just in time even though I wished I hadnât. âGosh Amy get a grip on yourself and stop acting all gooey and sloppy around himâ I scolded myself âheâs just a guy, yes maybe a cute, hot, attractive and charming guy⊠just stop, he probably thinks Iâm a loser and just another girl with a crush on himâ. As I tilted to look why we had come to an abrupt stop I saw that we were standing in front of a magnificently, big, golden door. The young man knocked on the door three times as if he was making a rhythm, âyou may come inâ commanded a sweet voice. The young man opened the door and I gasped at the sight before me, there was a young woman in her 40âs lying on a soft red, silky bed under a rosy, smooth quilt but that was not the reason that I had gasped it was the condition of the woman. She did not look well, she had deep, purple, dark circles under her eyes, her eyes were bloodshot red, her hair in tangled strings around her face, her skin as white as a ghost, her body so frail, skinny and looked mal-nourished and she was coughing very badly almost unstoppable. âMy queen what is wrong, your body is becoming more and more unstable, we think it is right for us to call the specialists from London or Germany, just order usâ the young man begged the queen. âNo, Joseph, we cannot, I donât have much long to live and I want to do whatâs right for my little darling and this kingdomâ. âOh so his name is Joseph, Joseph and Amy doesnât it sound good, Amy youâre losing it againâ. âMy dear come closer for I have a secret to tell, a secret that may change your life forever, comeâ the queen whispered to me. I cautiously walked over to her; my stomach was making small knots, ây,y,y,y,yess mother, I m,m,m,mean your highnessâ I stammered. âLean closerâ, she instructed, I leaned a little closer. Her hot breath was scolding my skin as she whispered the terrible truth, â long ago there is this legend that says; behind the highest, ragged mountains, inside the darkest, scariest, dangerous forest lies an old, ancient cave and in that cave lies a child, who with a single smile and laugh could grant your wish and bring luck to you but if the child dies, seeâs sadness or despair a curse will be lain on you and devastation will be your destiny and the only way you can cure the curse is if behind the forbidden door in the lost, ancient treasure chest under the roaring mightiest sea of death you find the angels charm and chant the spellâ she whispered. I was confused, âmother why are you telling me all thisâ I asked confused, âbecause my child you are that little child, long ago your father had found the cave and rescued you and now we see that you have some sadness inside of you itâs destroying the whole kingdom, itâs up to you now honey, only you can save us, please save us, pleaseâ she whispered while gasping for air. âBut what am I supposed to doâ I cried, âI donât have much longer to live, this will help youâ she wept. She pulled out an envelope and a black key from under her sot red fluffy pillows. âThe dark key and Joseph will be your companions, good luckâ and with that she fell in a deep sleep.
SOME TIME LATERâŠ.
Now my mission is set and my destiny awaits as I wait outside the palace with my two companions and my love, I bid goodbye to my welcoming kingdom who awaits my return and as I get going I see a bright light in my room. Itâs the girl, the one who plays the gentle song/melody and when I looked closer I saw her smiling down at me and I smiled back a gleaming smile and continued towards my dangerous and daring journeyâŠ.
