Chapter Two

Blackstar jumped up onto the highledge. Her fur ruffled as the wind blew her direction. She took a deep breathe, then called her Clan, "All that are old enough to catch their own prey come here the highledge for a Clan meeting."

The cats poked thier heads out and walked out to the center of the camp.Snakepaw and Owlpaw, being th first to walk out, sat down infront. "I call everyone here today, because two apprentices are ready to become warriors today." Started Blackstar. Snakepaw shivered with excitement as Blackstar said the ancient words, "I, Blackstar, leader of ThunderClan, call upon this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand your noble code, and commend him as a warrior in his turn... Owlpaw, do you promise to uphold the Warrior Code, to protect and to defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

"I do." Meowed Owlpaw keeping his gaze on Blackstar as she spoke again, "Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. From this moment you will be known as Owlfoot... StarClan honors your courage and bravery. Welcome to ThunderClan as a new warrior." Blackstar took a pace forward and rested her muzzle on Owlfoot's head. Then he licked Blackstar's shoulder in ruturn as the warriors called his new name. Then he backed up and sat down next to Greycloud. Snakepaw walked forward and held his gaze as Blackstar called on StarClan to look down on him, "Snakepaw?" She questioned him, "Do you promise to uphold the Warrior Code, to protect and to defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

Snakepaw looked around, then stood tall, "I do." He meowed.

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. From this momnet you will be known as..." Blackstar hestitated, then began to speak again, "Snakeroot. StarClan honors your wisdom and spirituality, and welcomes to ThunderClan as a new warrior." She finished, and rested her muzzle on Snakeroot's head. Snakeroot licked Blackstar's shoulder. He backed and stood tall. Owlfoot was the first to lead the chant, "Snakeroot! Snakeroot!" Then everyone else joined in. Blackstar looked at Snakeroot as he stood proud, but something bothered her. The hatred in Snakeroot's eyes, stung her like a thousand bees. Was I right to make him a warrior? She thought to herself.

"Blackstar... He'll be fine." Meowed a voice.

"Oh, Greycloud... How do you now?" Asked Blackstar, concerned.

"I mentored him. I saw how he acts. I saw how he fights, and I saw you look at him... I worry to, Blackstar, but you have to faith in him." Meowed Greycloud.

"How can I?" She hissed, her eyes foggy with anticipation.

"I mentored him." He repeated, "He was wild from the start... but his mother is the nicest she-cat I've known." Purred Greycloud, picturing her face and eyes.

"Yes, but his father?" She meowed, still concerned.

"Snakeroot is just mad and upset bacause his parents left him!" confessed Greycloud.

"They didn't do it on pourpse!" Hissed Blackstar, "They were trying to save him! And they died right infront of him."

"Then have a little faith." Greycloud growled, then walked away. The camp was now empty. They only ones outside was Owlfoot, Snakeroot, and Blackstar. Instead of walked up to her den, Blackstar went to the highledge and layed there for a long time. Everything was silent. Of course, it had to be.

The next morning, Blackstar woke up beside the highledge. She stood up and saw that Snakeroot and Owlfoot were sitting there, still silent. "You toms can speak now." She meowed walking to them.

"That was the most longest night of my life!" Meowed Owlfoot.

"Yeah, mine too." Snakeroot agreed. Blackstar didn't stay very long. She trotted to her den and started pacing back and forth. "Oh StarClan!" She meowed looking up, "Please help me!" She wailed. There was no response. None at all. Not even a gust of wind! "Feahterdust will know what to do." She meowed to herself and ran to the Medicine den not noticing all of the warriors looking at her. "Get!" Growled Featherdust, glaring at the warriors, "She's fine!" He meowed. They departed and went back to their duties. "I sense you have a concern?" Questioned Featherdust.

"Yes... I'm worried about Snakeroot. When I saw..."

"His eyes." Interupted Featherdust.

"Yes, his eyes... How did you know?" Asked Blackstar, titling her head.

"I saw his eyes too. I got a little worried as well."

"Can you go to the Moonstone tonight and ask StarClan for some help?" Asked Blackstar.

"I can... But what if they have no answer?"
