Then she realized who I was. “Oh, you’re that boy who carried the girl on your back from Heneru Island. How on earth did you carry her over the sea?!”
“With muscle power," I laughed.
“Young man you are quite extraordinary. I don’t think anyone has ever done that before," she smiled.
“Well, nobody could help her in Heneru and here is the closest hospital," I replied.
“Do you live there?" she asked.
“No. I travel a lot,” I blushed. Something had happened to my mother and father when I was little. I don't know what because I couldn't remember anything from when I was that small, nothing at all. Not what my mother looked like, or my father, or even where I had lived. My earliest memories where from the age of 7 with someone who found me on a beach, although I don't remember being found.
“What side of the school are you on? UH, right?” the nurse asked.
"Yes. What’s the time? I need to get to my lessons because it’s my first day!"
"Oh, it’s quarter past ten – you better get to lessons then!" She replied. I was about to hurry off to find out where my lessons were when I remembered what I was meant to be asking in the first place.
"Um, actually, before I go, please can I see the girl that I was with earlier?” I asked.
"Why of course,” she replied. "But you will have to be quiet because she needs all the rest she can get. Her wound isn't fatal, luckily. It looked like it could have been but it missed all the vital organs."
"So she wasn’t going to die then!" I gasped.
"Oh no, she could have,” the nurse said.
"But she won't now!" I replied, blushing.
"No she won't now. The sea water prevented any infection." I sighed. Thank God for that. "Are you some sort of demon then if you managed to carry her all this way?" she asked.
"No,” I laughed "I'm a lycanthrope."
