Read FICTION books online

Reading books fiction Have you ever thought about what fiction is? Probably, such a question may seem surprising: and so everything is clear. Every person throughout his life has to repeatedly create the works he needs for specific purposes - statements, autobiographies, dictations - using not gypsum or clay, not musical notes, not paints, but just a word. At the same time, almost every person will be very surprised if he is told that he thereby created a work of fiction, which is very different from visual art, music and sculpture making. However, everyone understands that a student's essay or dictation is fundamentally different from novels, short stories, news that are created by professional writers. In the works of professionals there is the most important difference - excogitation. But, oddly enough, in a school literature course, you don’t realize the full power of fiction. chapter 1

Katie ran down the street, her long auburn hair dancing in the wind. Just as she started around the corner something reached out and grabbed her.She tried to scream but it was too late. The thing had a rough and scarred hand over her thin lips. A minute later every thing went black.

She awoke in a shadowy room.Behind her a door opened letting the outside light stream in. Katie turned around shielding her eyes from the light. As they adjusted she saw a man standing in the door. He had one long scar down his pale and bony face and another on his arm and hand. She realized that this was the man that had kidnapped her and brought her here, wherever here was.

The man turned and hurried out of the room. He swung the door probably thinking it would close but in his rush he left it a tiny bit open. Katie took advantage of this and quietly stood up and tiptoed to the door. Suddenly there was an unpleasant lurch causing many things to fall, including Katie. Katie Stood up and started to the door once more. She threw open the door and almost fainted . . . . . . . she was on a ship.

Two people were now walking toward her. One was her kidnapper and the other was a kind-looking girl who looked about 20.

“You must be Katie. my name is Anna,” the girl said. “I am so sorry about the whole knock out thing. The captain told Robert to get you, but I guess he took it a bit too seriously, don’t you think? He always has done that I guess. that's what is constantly getting him into trouble. I mean the the captain says to get you which clearly does not mean to kidnap you, knock you out, and then tie you up. Well, just look at you! You’re a mess: we’d better get you cleaned up before you are to see the captain. Speaking of the captain we’d better notify him that you are awake immediately. Hmmmmm, I think that dresses should fit you but what color...maybe a purple or a blue or-”

“Excuse me I don’t mean to interrupt,” Katie said “but where exactly am i?”

“oh yes how rude of me,” Anna said looking slightly embarrassed “ you are aboard The Ship. stupid name for a ship I know but I guess the captain has his reasons. well come with me and we can go find you something to wear.”

Katie followed Anna into a room that was filled with clothes

“pick any dress and shoes you would like.”

Katie looked through the racks of clothes she felt like she was at a store that everything was free. there was every kind of dress in every color imaginable. finally she found one it was perfect. it was knee length, spaghetti strap, and light pink with a black empire waist line a black band around the bottom but not to formal then she slipped on some black high heels and found a brush to use for hair which she then bobby pinned up. She walked out into the room to show Anna but she was not there. there was however a note saying:

“had to go do some stuff. you are supposed to have dinner with the captain at 6:00 pm tonight, his cabin is the largest if you need help finding it just ask.....well anyone. I hope you were able to find something to wear.

-Anna”

Katie glanced up at the clock on the wall it was 5:38 pm “well better get going” she thought. she walked out of the room and into the blinding sun. she walked up to the nearest person to her

“Excuse me” she said “would you know how to get to the captains cabin”

the man turned from his work and looked at her “yea right over there.” he said pointing behind her

Katie turned around and suddenly she was looking at the biggest structure on the boat how could she have missed it. She started walking toward it.

“I hope that I am not late” she thought “don’t want to make to bad of a first impression”

she got to the door and then........ knocked. door was opened by a large man in a suit and captain’s cap.

“come in” he said “we have some business to discuss”

Katie was clearly freaked and even more so out when she saw the inside of his cabin. On the wall opposite the door there was a large picture of a grotesque animal she had never seen before and quite frankly it scared her. but putting this aside she walked in and sat at a table that was very nicely set with many fine things to eat.

“so your Katie” the captain said

Katie nodded “yep, that's me”

there was a long and awkward pause in which someone could have easily heard a a mouse sneeze

“ and you are?” Katie said breaking the silence

“ oh yes me, I am captain Fred” said the captain pulling out a gun “ and you are going to be dead.”

And with that there was a loud BANG and Katie fell to the floor dead.
