Read FICTION books online

Reading books fiction Have you ever thought about what fiction is? Probably, such a question may seem surprising: and so everything is clear. Every person throughout his life has to repeatedly create the works he needs for specific purposes - statements, autobiographies, dictations - using not gypsum or clay, not musical notes, not paints, but just a word. At the same time, almost every person will be very surprised if he is told that he thereby created a work of fiction, which is very different from visual art, music and sculpture making. However, everyone understands that a student's essay or dictation is fundamentally different from novels, short stories, news that are created by professional writers. In the works of professionals there is the most important difference - excogitation. But, oddly enough, in a school literature course, you don’t realize the full power of fiction. Rolling the Die

Six:

That meant stay at home. Lena had written the rules herself. But lately she’d been feeling lonely, so she decided to roll the die again and see what fate had in store for her.

Four:

Go to Lisa’s party. It was her friend’s birthday, and she hadn’t seen Lisa in a couple weeks. But that would mean taking an hour-long train ride, and then walking in the snow. Another roll couldn’t hurt.

Two:

Hang out with Ben. He lived just down the hall, and they had been planning for weeks on a horror movie marathon. But Lena wasn’t in the mood. Besides, Ben might try to tell her he loved her again. Better to do something else.

Three:

Meet Sean at the bar downstairs. He was hot, especially when he did that sexy thing with his lips. Lena knew he was trouble though. He was known for being a womanizer. Maybe she should stay away.

Five:

Grocery shopping. Lena’s fridge was nearly empty, containing only a couple eggs and half a carton of milk. The pantry was worse. A lonely one-pound tub of peanut butter sat on the shelf. But it was cold outside, and Lena still didn’t like the idea of being out in the snow. She would have to lug her shopping bags all the way across the parking lot and up a flight of stairs. She rolled again.

One:

Drive to the pet store and buy the cat she’d had her eye on. He was a cute tabby, with hazel eyes and a playful tail. He was probably cuddly. Cats scratched though, and Lena didn’t want to worry about caring for another being. She could barely care for herself. One more roll—that would decide everything.

Six:

The gods had spoken. Lena sighed, relieved and disappointed. Another night alone.
