Read FICTION books online

Reading books fiction Have you ever thought about what fiction is? Probably, such a question may seem surprising: and so everything is clear. Every person throughout his life has to repeatedly create the works he needs for specific purposes - statements, autobiographies, dictations - using not gypsum or clay, not musical notes, not paints, but just a word. At the same time, almost every person will be very surprised if he is told that he thereby created a work of fiction, which is very different from visual art, music and sculpture making. However, everyone understands that a student's essay or dictation is fundamentally different from novels, short stories, news that are created by professional writers. In the works of professionals there is the most important difference - excogitation. But, oddly enough, in a school literature course, you don’t realize the full power of fiction. Bless Me Father, For I have Sinned…

My husband and I moved into our home in April, 1979. In June, our son was born. Soon thereafter, I arranged for his Baptismal with Father Cushing at St. Daniels. During our brief meeting, Father Cushing said, “I would like to meet, after Sunday service, to get to know you better. Do you attend our services?” I cautiously said, “Yes?” He continued, “Oh, what service do you attend?” Thinking there is always a 10:00 mass, I confidently said, “10:00.” He thought for a moment…, “You mean, 10:30...” I then blurted out, “We get there early, to get a good seat…”

Just a Crank

One winter morning it was bitter, bitter cold. I went out to the car, to go to work, and tried to start the car. Crank, crank, crank, as I turned the key. Horrible noises emitted from under the hood. Just then, my husband came flying out of the house. “No, no, no! Stop! Stop! Stop! Wait! Wait! Wait! It was so cold, I put a blanket around the engine!” As he lifted the hood, I could tell by the expression on his face that it wasn’t pretty. It took him over 2 hours, with scissors, to clear the fan blade!

Darn ‘Ole Blizzard

One winter we had a blizzard. Heavy snow. Slow traffic. While on the freeway, I decided to grab the wiper blade and knock off the ice. It completely broke off! With traffic so sluggish, I soon had to pee. Oh, what to do? I couldn’t exit. I started to sweat and soon felt incredibly faint! I put a coat under me and went, just a little. Soon it was more! By the time I reached the auto parts store, to replace my wiper blade, the clerk said, “What happened? You’re all wet!” I inaudibly said, “I fell in the snow…”
