Read FICTION books online

Reading books fiction Have you ever thought about what fiction is? Probably, such a question may seem surprising: and so everything is clear. Every person throughout his life has to repeatedly create the works he needs for specific purposes - statements, autobiographies, dictations - using not gypsum or clay, not musical notes, not paints, but just a word. At the same time, almost every person will be very surprised if he is told that he thereby created a work of fiction, which is very different from visual art, music and sculpture making. However, everyone understands that a student's essay or dictation is fundamentally different from novels, short stories, news that are created by professional writers. In the works of professionals there is the most important difference - excogitation. But, oddly enough, in a school literature course, you don’t realize the full power of fiction. Summer Dunes

By: Daxteriana Jackson

The sand looked bleach white beneath the bright moon; the diamond necklace Aaron gave me threw sparkles of silver into the air. The crashing waves pounded against the shore, echoing through the still midnight air. The tears glistened against my cheeks; the sand of this beach brought back memories I thought I would never have to relive.

People tell me to forget, to leave my past behind, but...what happened on this beach is something I still remember and will probably never forget.

He left me...

It was midnight; I was the only one laying on the sand. The moon made the waves look even more beautiful than they did in the daylight.

"Hey, baby. What are you doing out here by yourself?" Aaron asked me, walking up to my towel. I was wearing a white bikini with hot pink polka dots all over it. I sat up, turning around to look at him.

Aaron wore red swim trunks with a skull on the right leg. He wore no shirt, which revealed his muscular upper body.

He sat down behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and pulling me against his chest. Aaron pressed his cheek against my neck. I stared at the waves, completely relaxed. I closed my eyes, about to doze off, when he asked a random question.

"Marry me, Lotia?" he breathed; his words made my skin tingle.

"I don't know, Aaron," I replied, leaning my head against his.

"I love you, baby," he said, kissing my neck. He released me and stood up. "Meet me back at the hotel. I want to give you something."

I nodded, hoping he wasn't going to give me a ring. I flipped over and stretched out on the beach towel, watching him walk away from me.

I felt as if I laid there forever under the moon; then I heard a gun go off nearby. The ring of the shot was loud, as if it was just over the dune.

I stood up, staring at the white mound of sand before me. I walked up it slowly, leaving tracks in the sand.

I stood atop the dune, staring at the road before me. A figure was running away from someone laying on the ground; he was carrying something. The motionless man on the ground was shirtless. The sound of laughter echoed through the midnight air, accompanied by the crashing waves on the beach behind me.

I ran down the dune, approaching the fallen man to see if he was alright. He was muscular, almost Aaron's size if not that. I stood beside him, crouching down and touching his shoulder. He was bleeding, but I couldn't tell from where; the moonlight reflecting off the crimson liquid created a beautiful color but a horrid sight.

He moaned, telling me that he was still alive. I flipped him over; a look of pain twisted the features of Aaron's face. A gaping hole was drilled in his stomach. He coughed; blood slid down his cheek from his mouth.

He lifted a shaky hand to wipe away a tear from my cheek; he was already turning cold.

"I love you, baby," he gasped. His head fell backwards, bouncing off the gravel of the street. His eyes stared at the stars, never blinking. His hand fell from my face to land beside him.

Evil laughter filled the night, making the scene in front of me even more realistic. It felt like a dream, almost as if it never happened, but it did. The fact of that made more tears mix with the blood creeping towards me.

"I love you too," I whispered to no one; sorrow reigned over me, sorrow and loss. I got up, walking away from Aaron's body and everything I once knew.

I couldn't believe my brother shot him...
