Every person throughout his life has to repeatedly create the works he needs for specific purposes - statements, autobiographies, dictations - using not gypsum or clay, not musical notes, not paints, but just a word. At the same time, almost every person will be very surprised if he is told that he thereby created a work of fiction, which is very different from visual art, music and sculpture making. However, everyone understands that a student's essay or dictation is fundamentally different from novels, short stories, news that are created by professional writers. Survival

1.

My hands, jutting out from my puffy jacket, squeezed shut as I stare hard at the glass door in front of me. I couldn’t see out of it because of the white stuff on the window. I let my breath out and it white stuff got thicker.

I place my hand on the cold window and take it off again watching in wonder as my handprint left behind disappears. I place my hand over it again and again entranced by the cloud on the window. My mother comes up behind me and catches me before I fall. ‘Happy 1st Birthday’.

As I lay on the flat, rough surface of the rock, looking at the sun rays flickering through the baron trees, I tried to gather my thoughts and reach some sort of comprehension of my situation. How could this happen? How could this be?

Five hours ago I was sitting in my classroom surrounded by familiar faces and laughter, wondering how I could appear invisible to my French teacher as I didn’t do my homework, again. I laugh now at the absurdity of it all. I wish now that was my only problem. Now, I have to face the unthinkable…

3.

A cold shiver ran down my spine. The darkness engulfed me on all sides. My breath comes in sharp gasps as the panic began to set in. I gripped the cold damp walls, trying hard not to fall over.

My flashlight had flickered out and I had nothing left to show me if I was even heading in the right direction. The water that dripped from the caves ceiling had already saturated my clothes which clung to me like a second skin. It was stupid for me to come down here alone. I was reckless. Will anyone ever find me?
