Read FICTION books online

Reading books fiction Have you ever thought about what fiction is? Probably, such a question may seem surprising: and so everything is clear. Every person throughout his life has to repeatedly create the works he needs for specific purposes - statements, autobiographies, dictations - using not gypsum or clay, not musical notes, not paints, but just a word. At the same time, almost every person will be very surprised if he is told that he thereby created a work of fiction, which is very different from visual art, music and sculpture making. However, everyone understands that a student's essay or dictation is fundamentally different from novels, short stories, news that are created by professional writers. In the works of professionals there is the most important difference - excogitation. But, oddly enough, in a school literature course, you don’t realize the full power of fiction. 1. Judgment

Bradley drank too much--not smart for a Harvard student.

Driving home he spotted a figure dart past, then he ran over something.

"I killed a man," Bradley thought. Afraid, he continued driving, hating himself.

Knowing he was a criminal he ran--abandoning the shreds of his life. Bitterness filled his heart and spilled into his soul.

Years passed, Bradley spent them as an unmarried clerk.

One day, tired of hiding, he confessed to the town’s sheriff who checked his story.

“You’re not guilty,” the sheriff said. “You didn't kill anything.”

But Bradley had killed something: his future.

2 Sibling Rivalry

Kathy Vail hated Belinda…she would show her…

Balancing an ice bucket on top of the door, Kathy set it to fall when Belinda walked through.

Shortly thereafter, Mrs. Vail heard a crash and found Kathy covered with ice.

“I hate, Belinda, Mommy!”

"Get dressed. We’re going to see Dr. Gravely."

. . .

"She’s worse?" Gravely asked Mrs. Vail.

"Yes, Kathy dumped ice on "Belinda."

"Multiple personality disorder can worsen…"

A nurse brought Kathy into the office.

"Hello, Kathy," Gravely smiled.

"My name's not Kathy!" She pouted.

"Sorry, I meant Belinda."

She stared at the psychiatrist. "Belinda? My name's Melissa!"

3. Damned

Father Emilio Earnesto entered the hut of the young native woman named Luelita. The ubiquitous Amazonian heat seemed to fade away in the presence of her natural warmth.

"Bless you child," he smiled.

Smiling back, she pushed herself up from the grass mat she lay upon and threw her nakedness into his outstretched arms.

"Tell me of my salvation, Father," she breathed into his ear.

As he held her, he felt the heat of her body increase.

"I am with your child," Luelita whispered, pressing her tight belly against him.

At that moment, Father Earnesto knew he was truly damned...
