A bus blares its horn at me as I run across the busy intersection. That man driving it is having a bad day, his wife just moved out and there’s a baby crying three seats behind him. Damn it. I didn’t block it out. I rubbed my temples and tried to force it all back, for them moment, it worked.
My green Nike Air Max sneakers were still covered in mud from my recent trek through the woods. They were about the most expensive things I owned. Considering how much I owned. I can say it in six words. Clothes, shoes, sunglasses, hair tie, money, and gloves. The clothes being the clothes I’m wearing.
I walked through the throng of people, careful not to touch anyone. Physical contact will tell me everything about that person.
“Watch where your going!” a man yells at me just as I crash into him. Images flash before my eyes, and I stumble backwards, into more people. More pictures. Babies being born, swimming, yelling. Oh help me. I scramble away from the people, and right myself. The visions fade. I look around, trying to see if anyone just saw that. A few people are looking at me funny, and the man is fuming. Bad day? Of course. He just got fired from work. Ug, not again.
“Sorry,” then I add, “Don’t cross the street today,” before I dash away. Hes going to die today. Hit by a silver Volvo, at 6:12 pm. I hope he listens to me, but I know he wont. They never do.
I walk into a café and the bell rings at my arrivle, a friendly waitress smiles at me as I take my seat in a booth.
