Read FICTION books online

Reading books fiction Have you ever thought about what fiction is? Probably, such a question may seem surprising: and so everything is clear. Every person throughout his life has to repeatedly create the works he needs for specific purposes - statements, autobiographies, dictations - using not gypsum or clay, not musical notes, not paints, but just a word. At the same time, almost every person will be very surprised if he is told that he thereby created a work of fiction, which is very different from visual art, music and sculpture making. However, everyone understands that a student's essay or dictation is fundamentally different from novels, short stories, news that are created by professional writers. In the works of professionals there is the most important difference - excogitation. But, oddly enough, in a school literature course, you don’t realize the full power of fiction. Elvis had spent the best two weeks in a long time with Ann, she was more than a woman, she was an angel sent to him with the purpose of helping him but he was scare to death about the feelings he felt, no one except his mother had protected him and now this woman was doing just that, protecting him with nothing in return, she never wanted his presents or money, she always said no to extravagant gifts, Elvis knew she was really special. Back at Graceland he felt lonely, he had the guys around him all the time that first week but he was surely in need of something else, yeah, the guys were fun but they couldn't understand his heart and his troubled soul, Ann was the only person other than Larry who really cared about his spiritual quest, who listened to him when he talked serious stuff with no monkey business involved.

"Charlie, can I ask you a favor?"

"Sure E, what is it?, Elvis took a zip of his apple juice.

"I just don't want all the guys here today, I need peace and quiet man", Charlie looked at him, he knew something was troubling him, they had been friends since the Army and of the Memphis Mafia the only two that thought Ann was good for Elvis was Joe and Charlie.

What is wrong E?, you seem nervous, Charlie knew that his divorce had him weak in the knee but he also knew that ever since he met Ann he had a spark in his eyes that made him feel different. He had other women, he was going out with a Miss Tennessee but he did not felt complete in any sense. He needed more than a beautiful face and curvy body, he didn't need a trophy to parade around, he needed someone who would care more for the heart of the boy from Tupelo, Mississippi than the King of Rock and Roll.

"Man, I keep blowing it with Ann, why am I doing this to myself?.

"What are you doing to yourself?", Charlie sat right beside him in the kitchen counter.

"I bring her close then I push her away man, is like I am scare to really be myself with her".

"E, can I be honest with you?".

"Sure Charlie, that is what I want"

"This girl is different, Joe and I had talked about it, she dosen't care about your fame or your money, she cares for you, don't let something so good go slipped out of your fingers", Charlie drank from his juice too, for a moment Elvis was silent, you can feel his breathing.

"I remember the day I met her, she blew me away, there is something about her, is in her sweet face".

"You were married to Cilla back then, she respected that, you know that says a lot about her"

"It does man, it does, we talked many times but that was it, she never wanted to come here and make Cilla think I was having an affair with her but to be honest she had been on my mind since that day I met her in the crowd of that concert and later when we actually got to meet".

"Just think about it E, she could do you good man", Charlie got up from the stool.

"I got to run, I need to do some things about the recording next week, I will pass by later"

"Thanks Charlie, I was talking to Joe last night about a few things about the tour next month, so I think we are on a roll".

"Yeah, I think we are, oh we took care of the scarfs, you have plenty for the tour".

"Good to know, they are in more demand than my songs", both of them laughed, Charlie walked by him.

"See you later E"

"Yeah later, thanks man".

Charlie left and Elvis was alone in the kitchen, he was playing with his empty glass of juice, he didn't know what to do. He walked towards the back porch and took a walk, maybe the cool breeze will help him soothed his thoughts. He remembered their sweet time in Vegas, how she was his constant companion, how they talk and how he stole a kiss from her, so sweet and gentle but then she softly said "Go easy Presley" and he laughed, she was something else, he wanted that something else in his life but not as a game or as a mere companion to parade from concert to concert, he needed to take care of the new born relationship between them, they were just friends and that kiss made him think that he wanted more than friendship with her. He thought he would never meet the stranger in the crowd and he did, she was right in front of him that day two years before, now she could bring him the healing he needed. He was sure that if his mamma was alive she would approve of her, she was the right kind of woman for him.

After the walk Elvis decided he would call Ann, maybe invite her for the weekend, she lived two hours away from Memphis but he was sure that if he called her she would say yes unless she met somebody, he hoped she didn't, he felt she cared for him in more ways than one, he had to make his move and ask her to come to Graceland with no intentions in mind other than getting closer and feeling her warmth. He got into the living room and decided to call her at work, he dialed and asked for her, she worked for a magazine as a writer.

"Eh hey Presley, whats going on?, are you alright?, she was worried for a minute.

"Yeah sweetheart, I am fine, listen I know you are at work but I couldn't wait to ask you this".

"What is it?"

"Do you think you can come over this weekend?.

"Actually I was going out with my friend Lynn Marie this weekend but she cancelled, she is going to her family instead"

"So is that a yes or a no?", Ann laughed, he did too.

"I guess is a yes"

"Well, I don't want to keep you from work, can we talk later?"

"Sure Presley, be a good boy", he laughed again.

"I'll try, I don't always succeed at that"

"I know you can do it, got to go"

"Talk to you later darling"

When he hang up the phone Elvis felt something warm inside of his heart, he could hear his mamma saying "Elvis, she is a nice girl, she is good for you", he looked at a picture of his mamma on a living room table and he answered.

"I know mamma, I hope I don't spoil it, help me"
