Read FICTION books online

Reading books fiction Have you ever thought about what fiction is? Probably, such a question may seem surprising: and so everything is clear. Every person throughout his life has to repeatedly create the works he needs for specific purposes - statements, autobiographies, dictations - using not gypsum or clay, not musical notes, not paints, but just a word. At the same time, almost every person will be very surprised if he is told that he thereby created a work of fiction, which is very different from visual art, music and sculpture making. However, everyone understands that a student's essay or dictation is fundamentally different from novels, short stories, news that are created by professional writers. In the works of professionals there is the most important difference - excogitation. But, oddly enough, in a school literature course, you don’t realize the full power of fiction. Bella and me

Mama wished for Bella.

"Mommy wants a dog now. Probably as a replacement, because you don’t live here anymore," you joked.

That was about two years ago.

Before she left - forever.

"What am I going to do now, all alone?" you asked desperately.

Bella came and laid down at your feet.

Together we sorted out Mama's things.

"Don't you want the dog? What am I supposed to do with it now?," you asked me.

But you still fed her. You took her for a walk.

"Don't you want to take Bella after all?,” you kept asking me at first.

Then you confessed that you talked to her. About mom. About me.

"Bella understands me," you told me. "She misses Mom as much as I do."

She went everywhere with you. She waited outside the supermarket. Even in front of the baker. Also at mom's grave.

"My Bella. The silence is better with her at my side," you said with a melancholy look.

Then this day. This diagnosis. I had to cry immediately.

"Hey, I'm not dead yet," you tried a joke.

I pulled myself together.

"You must promise me something. Can you take care of her?" was your biggest concern.

You weren't talking to me, you were talking to the animal.

I took Bella the day you went into hospital. That huge mutt smashed my beautiful flower vase. And I had to be careful that it did not cut its paws on the broken pieces.

You wanted me to quit your apartment already.

"Hey, you're not dead yet," I tried a joke.

I went home and cried. The dog was happy when I arrived and licked the tears I wiped off my face from my hand. Stretched out she doesn't even fit under my kitchen table .

Bella was allowed into the hospice.

Bella freaked out with joy when she saw you.

And your mouth, which used to laugh so loudly, smiled.

Your hands, which used to be able to grasp so strongly, stroked her fur.

Your eyes, once wide awake and alert, looked at us mildly.

The time afterwards was really difficult. But I was not allowed to let myself down. I had to go for a walk, feed and do things.

Now I am sitting here. Bella sits next to me. There are only the two of us left.

She knows what I miss. Whom. She understands me.

When I look at Bella, I feel very close to you, because the silence is better with her at my side.
