Whispers of the Insane
I hear her voice and must obey
The chains of a prisoner I escape
My queen demands I save the child
So I search for her among the crowds
People reach out with a pleading shriek
There is no time to end their misery
The soldiers chase me through the halls
Blood coats my broken daggers, hands, and clothes
The child I find and seek a way out
An army I fight to set the child free
Once out the door a bright light receives me
Booming voices call out
Claiming I am no warrior, but a daughter of insanity.
Utterances of a Fantasy Writer
I lay awake upon my bed
They care not if I rest my head
Rambling voices fill my mind
They struggle to be heard each day
I see them even in my sleep
They weave their tales into my dreams
I shout, “Hush now! Go away!”
But they reply, “Not until my story is made!”
I toss and turn, chasing them away
But they return with many more friends
A defeated sigh escapes my lips
I’m forced to type away each tale
When one ends, another begins
A voice dies with each finale
There are too many for my lifetime
Cradled in Oblivion
They plotting all against me
My stuff they take and hide from me
A fool they want to make of me
The TV they say I keep unplugging
Or that I ate not long ago
I ask they say a thousand times
But for me it’s my first time
Wouldn’t I remember I ate?
Why do they say I only forget?
They sneer and leave me all alone
Am I that horrible?
I cry myself to sleep at night
What’s going on inside my head?
I wake to face another day
The black box doesn’t play today
Ugh! Oh why?
