Em, I know who you are. Whatever you do don’t listen to the man in black, or you will end up like me. I’ll try to come by as much as I can but it takes energy. You will understand everything soon but be safe and beware of…
the girl in black. She is not to be trusted at all. She is evil and I have heard things. I hear that she wants to kill you. If you have seen her already then she knows how and when she will but she will…
The notes were coming in separately. They were clues or guidence. All I really know for sure was that I was going to die. I wouldn’t know when or how but I would. I intended to stay alive no matter the cost. I wanted to live, I wanted to see the light of tomorrow, most of all I wanted to be with my mom and dad.
The last I saw my dad was Monday. After seeing the girl in black for the second time. My dad was there in the hospital, flesh and blood. I wish my mom didn’t kick him out of the room. I wanted us to be a family. It’s hard not having a dad. I saw the girl in black the same day.
She will kill me any day in any way. Why does she want to kill me? When and mostly how will she do it? I don’t know but I just want to see my family at least one more time if I can’t stay alive long enough. I need to see my family again. There’s got to be a way out of this place.
I can’t be trapped in here. Not like some caged animal. I don’t belong here. I can’t die not like this. Not without seeing my family.
CHAPTER 4:THE DAYS ADDING UP
Tuesday morning, still white walls, white ceiling, white everything. Today I actually get to go home. I get up out of the bed after I am unhooked from the machine. I grab the pile of clothes sitting at the end of the bed. I shuffle my feet across the floor to the bathroom. After closing and locking the door I look at what my mom brought me. I had a red tank topped blouse, a black shiny leather jacket, some white holey jeans, and my newer black pumps. I actually liked what my mom chose.
I step out of the bathroom just to see the little girl again. She wore a black dress with a white lace along the collar. Her hair was long, thin, and black. She had little waves in her hair. Her eyes, charcoal black. Her skin pale but dirty.
“Who are you?”
“None of that matters Em,”
“How do you know my name?”
“You’re chosen that’s how I know,”
“Wait, you’re the girl that was next to my bed,”
“Yes, indeed I was,” she paused then smirked, “so this means I have to put an end to you before they come,”
“Before who comes?”
“Just know your time will come to an end this month,”
Then she was gone. She left a pile of dirt in the place she stood. This had to be some kind of cruel prank.
Wednesday morning, I can finally awake in my own bed. I stretch and yawn. Scared to get out of bed, I just lay there. The sun was fighting against the clouds. When the clouds finally gave up the sun poured into my room. I wanted to make my last month worth it. I wouldn’t go down without a fight though.
I wanted to find out who the little girl was and why I had to die. I will be alive for August, I promise that. I can hide away and hope to not get found. Only seconds later there was a shadow creeping in front of my window. Slowly I turned my head and to my surprise the only
thing I saw was a knife in the air. The knife slammed into my chest but there was no blood, no pain, no wound, and now no knife.
I made sure that I was okay so I looked around. Every limb in my body could move. I sat up thinking it was all a dream. It wasn’t I looked at the spot I was laying down, there was no blood. What happened to me? I’m not dead yet. I wasn’t dreaming, but i’m still alive.
I looked at my window and there was a note written in fresh blood.
THERE’S NO GETTING OUT
Who wrote it and how did they get in my room? I was really starting to worry now. I left my room to get stuff to clean the window when I heard a high pitched scream. I dropped everything and ran. It came from my room and I saw my mom standing there.
“What happened to this window?”
“I don’t know,”
“Yes you do, it’s your own room!” she was furious,” did you do it?”
“N-” I wanted to say no but she would go crazy then we would have to move so I gave a simple answer, “yes I did,”
“That’s the end of this I didn’t want to do make this choice but now I know I have to,”
Later that day before I went to bed she told me to pack some things. She said I was leaving Thursday night.
Soon Thursday came and I wasn’t all to happy. Leaving tonight would be hard. Then all of a sudden a sharp pain sprang to life. I felt the pain in my stomach. I lifted my shirt just above my belly button and there it was. The most deepest scar I have ever had. I rolled in pain wishing the aching and burning sensation would stop.
The pain grew more and more with every toss and turn. It was hurting to much. Tears streamed down my face. Slowly my mouth began to open then I let out a scream. Nobody came to check on me. Where was my mom?
The pain kept growing, spreading through my body in a matter of time. What felt like seconds turned into minutes then hours. I didn’t know how much more I could take. I feel like I am dying. All of a sudden something happened.
CHAPTER 5: DAY 2
All I see is Black. When I open my eyes it’s almost pitch black. There’s little light seeping through a barred window. What time was it? Stil, itl looked dark outside. I got up, reaching my hands out. There was a lean, solid figure in my way. I guided my hands up thinking it could have been a wall. After all, I didn’t know the layout of the room well enough yet.
As I slid my hand along the figure I felt something odd. It was a mouth, then a nose, then eyes, and hair, real hair!
“Are you done feeling my face?”
“AHHHH! Who are you?! What are you doing in my room?!”
“Not so loud,” she whispered, “it’s me, Maria,”
“Maria? What are you doing here?”
“I told you I would try to come by every now and then,”
I’ll try to come by as much as I can….. Oh yeah, I remember that now.
“I knew that, so tell me what exactly happened to you?”
“It’s a long story, so sit down and relax,”
Then, all of a sudden my door knob turned. Slowly my door began opening. A centimeter, an inch, soon enough it was almost completely opened. When it was halfway open, Maria chirped in.
“Oh no! It’s him,” she sounded scared, “I have to go. Lay down, pretend that you’re asleep,”
“Bu-”
“Now!”
“Okay,”
I hurried under the blanket and closed my eyes shut. They were shut so tight it hurt. I heard the door hinges squeaking. You could tell they obviously needed oil.
“Get up girl!”
Slowly I open my eyes and turn, acting as if I was asleep.
“Any day now! Get up we got questions for you!”
“Alright! I’m coming, chill!”
I made it out of bed and drearily walked over to the man. He stood behind me while I walked in the direction he pointed me towards. Everytime I walked slower than he wanted he yelled at me. Not just at me but he yelled right in my ear! My ear rang for at least an hour each time. Let me just say now that it was a good 3 hours until it stopped ringing. I wanted so badly to just punch him STRAIGHT in his gut, but I didn’t I was being generous.
