Realization hit me right in the gut before I was aware that this guy was a Darklor (a demon of dark magick) not the guy named Gabe that Rain knew. Well it was Gabe, only his body not his soul. Gabe must have died and a Darklor overtook his soul before he could go on to the Heavens and imprisoned his spirit within the depths of Hell. This guyâs possessing Gabeâs body and using t against Rain.
My inner lion growls in rage as the demon grips Rain by the chin, firmly. Then without a momentâs notice he pulled Rain closer and his lips meet her unwilling kiss. âG-get away from me-â, she sobs yet it was a whisper. But I could hear exactly what she was saying. I stalk toward them, worried for Rain.
The demon didnât listen to her he just grips Rain around the waist and his teeth sharpen into points (Gabe must have been a vampire before he died âcause he stank of blood and decay) before he sinks those nasty fangs into Rainâs lovely crĂšme-colored neck. She whimpers for a moment then a sound so sexy erupts from her pink lustrous lips. I feel my face burning bright red at the heated moment, blushing in embarrassment and desire.
I could smell a sweet scent to irresistible to ignore. My nostrils flared at the scent and I could feel my body going ridged with an uncomfortable desirable to make Rain mine and mine alone. My whole body was on fire. Damn what the hell was happening to me?
âAhâŠyou see, beast. Rain is unique. She is my flower; a flower with its irresistible fragrance that lures male and female alike into her trap. Rain doesnât even know of her ability, yet. And-â, the demon looks at me dead serious, âyou cat, will never tell her of this. I am disgusted to know she has a âfondnessâ for you. If she didnât I wouldnât need you, but well she doesâ, he grumbled, laying Rain on the black tile floor. âBut no matter, she will forget about you and anyone she has emotions for. Rain is mine after all.â
He gave me an empty cold stare and without warning he lifts Rain off the ground and into his arms.
âWhat the hell do you what with Rain? Sheâs just a stubborn ass wolf demon with a short temper,â I snarl and shred my clothing, shifting into lion form in seconds.
âYes, true, kitty-cat, but sheâs mine and mine alone and I donât plan on telling you a future with her is possible. She is of now no burden to you people. Have you ever noticed how unfair you treat her? Think on that, you filthy feline. Youâve tainted my sweet and for that you shall never see Raina again. I will leave the rest of you be for now unless you try harming my flower ever again.â
I look at him, astounded. Whatâs he talking about? Be unfair to Rain? When...wait a minute-who the hell is this if heâs not Gabe? And who was Gabe?, I thought, confused beyond words. I look up and findâŠ
Rain and the Darklor was gone, nowhere to be seen. I look everywhere, yet I know theyâre gone because I couldnât sense them anywhere. Rain was gone.
"Where are you, Rain?"I whispered.
Chapter 3: A New Pack
Anna
âWhy do we have to come here, big brother?â I ask Pierce in a pouting tone. âAnd why isnât Rain with us?â
Pierce frowns down at me as I hug him around the waist, tightly. Then I give him the large brown puppy dog eyes Rain seemed to believe âweakensâ him in some way. He smiles down at me with those warm emerald colored eyes of his. I grin up at him and even though heâs three heads taller than me I can trick him into agreeing with me. Iâm able to âtwist him around my little pinkie
â as Rain would tell me or whatever that means. I grip his bicep with both my arms, dangling from his arm; a foot off the ground, as he carries our luggage out of the trunk of the SUV and toward our new home.
âBecause Rain went on some errands and sheâs not coming home anytime soonâ, he murmurs in a serious tone yet I wasnât convinced he was telling the truth. I raise an eyebrow at him when he wouldn't look me in the eye.
âSure, she isâ, I exclaimed sarcastically, then I state in a serious tone,âRain would never leave us for so stupid errand if that was true sheâd drag you along too.â
The large (bigger than our old one) five story mansions with its floor to ceiling windows in the dining rooms with its shiny crystal chandeliers and pretty decorated staircases appeared before us as we walk toward it.
Our old home was big but this one was like a princessâs castle. It was so pretty and covered with beautiful wild roses and white lilies. Grape vines conceal the front sides of the most of the mansions, creating a pretty scene. It looks so much like a group of unknown castles conceals by lovey hedges and evergreen trees.
âWow! So pretty. Is this really our new home? And why would the Alpha of the Silverstone Pack agree to take us in and protect us, big brother?â
Pierce sighs and shakes his head. âI donât know why. Rain just said he knows her and he owes Rain big time for some unknown reasonâ, he explained in a solemn tone, yet I feel as though he's hiding something from me.
âOhâ, was all I said before he rings the door bell and a large tall muscled guy with pretty looking long black hair and dark lavender colored eyes opens the door, frowning at our group. This guy was definitely a werewolf and I would guess he might actually be Beta wolf.
I hear Rishka growl softly and curse under his breath.
The werewolfâs head snaps in Rishkaâs direction and smirks. âHa! I knew I smelled a dirty cat on my doorstep, butâŠwaitâŠwhereâs that sexy little she-wolf of mineâŠahâŠwhat was her nameâŠRonaâŠno RinaâŠRitaâŠnoâŠmaybeâŠâ,he grins, but Rishka stops him with a growl so unlike what a human would make that it gives me chills down my spine, frightening even my inner wolf.
âHer nameâs Rain, assholeâ, Rishka barked in an unfriendly tone, but he doesnât confront the werewolf, only glares at him like he could stare him dead somehow.
I move toward the wolf and put out my hand in greeting. Pierce tries to grab for me but I pull away and smile at the Were, giving him my puppy dog look. âAre you the Alpha, sir? Iâm Annie. Whatâs your name?â
His eyes widen in surprise then he smiles, softly and shakes hands with me in a firm yet gentle grip. He has a really large hand that swallows up my own tiny one. Wow and theyâre really strong too.
I look up at him in awe. His large tall frame shadows my own like some huge willow tree. âUmâŠumâŠyouâre really s-strongâ, I stutter and scurry behind Pierce, blushing and wide eyed;my cheeks turning bright red,as he grins from ear to ear at me.
âItâs nice meeting you, Annie. Iâm Haiden and no, Iâm not Alpha, but Deta; second to Beta. And youâre a wolf, too?â His nostrils flare and I could tell he knew what I was. His eyes widen. âYou are but your scent is related toâŠâ , he begin saying but a guy in a black ACDC shirt underneath a ash colored V-neck jacket, wearing jeans and black converse shoes. He looked about eighteen but his pale blue eyes shown the wisdom beyond years. He smiled a lopsided grin and moved toward Pierce and me.
Without warning, Pierce kneels down on one knee and bows his head to the teen. âAlpha Alistair, Iâve come to ask of your helpâŠâ, he mutters in a loyal respectful tone, but heâs interrupted by arms engulfing around his body in a warm bear hug.
âPierce! Itâs so good to see you, boyâ, the teen exclaims in an overly excited voice. Thatâs weird for a guy who looks so much of the same age as big brother to say that. I think that Pierce is going to get angry at this guy for calling him a âboyâ.
But rather the opposite happens he smiles forcefully and apologizing for being late. I could feel my mouth dropping to the ground in astonishment.
Then the guy seems to sense my gaze on him and looks over Pierceâs shoulder down at me, smilingâŠadoringly? I give him a nervous look and look down at my tennis shoes. I feel shy for some reason but not frighten of him.
âUhâŠh-hi. Iâm Ann-â, I begin to greet, but the guy named Alistair cuts me off.
âAnna, do you remember me? Has Pierce told you who I am?â , he asks me in a low sad cracked voice and before I could react Alistair hugs me to him, gently. âMy baby girl. My baby girlâ, he murmurs in a heart shattering voice and sobs erupt from him as he shudders each time he hugs me. I whimper not knowing why. But the inner wolf within me howls and cries in dismay, informing me this man named Alistair was our long forgotten father.
I look directly at Pierce in question. âWho is this person, big brother? Is heâŠis he myâŠmy father?â I ask, tears shimmering down my face; one after another. I feel betrayed. Pierce knew my dad and never told me, but mom told me he was beaten by a pack of weretigers and left to die.Did Momma lie to me?Or did dad survive? But if so why does Pierce know dad was here and whyâs Alistair being so familiar with big brother?
