Rain
I smiled, coldly, at the man before me. I stood my ground, watching his every move. His icy guilt filled sapphire blue eyes watch me, sadly. I glare at him, spitting on the ground he stood.
âRain, I know you still shall never forgive me for what I did in the past. But you donât know the reason why I had done-,â he tried explaining, yet I cut him off mid-sentence and held my crossbow in a tense ready stance, aiming straight at him. My eyes flood with unshed tears and my body begins to tremble. I grip the handle of the bow, tightly.
âBastard, you have no right to speak my name! I canât believe-I canât believe youâd do something so damn unlike the brother I once had! And I believed-I believed youâŠyouâŠyou traitor! I hate what youâve become. This shall be the last time we see one another, br-brother. With this I sayâŠI say goodbyeâ, I sob in a shattered empty voice. Oh, brother. I wish this never were to be. Why must things end like this?
âRain, this doesnât have to be like thisâ, he said in a cracked tone as if he read my mind. âSage isnât what you think. Heâs ââ.
Before he could mutter another word I shook my head in disbelief and just like that the arrow went flying.
Thunk!
I wince at the sound of metal against flesh and bone and close my eyes, blood curling screams and curses rattling out of my mouth, hoarsely. NoâŠnoâŠnoâŠwhyâŠ?!!!
Then just like that I was sitting up in bed, screaming and panting from lack of air, and thrashing around in the sheets like some psychopath as tiny arms encircle around my waist and even larger arms grip my arms.
âStop-stop it, Rain! Stop, please. Itâs okay. Youâre alright. Youâre alrightâ, I hear a familiar shrill worried female voice cry in dismay. Anna.
âErâŠyeah, Rain. Damn it, stop this childish fight. Itâs only a nightmare. We all have our own demons to conquer, but this isnât like our fierce ass leader. Damn snap out of itâ, I hear another familiar concerned, yet annoyed male voice. Pierce.
I stop thrashing around and inhale deeply, then exhale slowly, calming my anxious nerves.
âOkay, Iâm fine, you guys. Let me upâ, I grumble in an irritated tone and gently grip Annaâs arms, pulling her toward me into a bear hug. She yelps and squeals, excitedly as I hold her upside down by her ankles.
âPut me down! Put me down, Rain!â , Anna giggled, trying to grip my legs in an attempt of stopping me from swinging her from side to side. I laugh, but I set her back on her feet, gentle and tweak her tiny pink nose. She giggles and slaps my hand away, playfully. I grin from ear to ear and stalk toward her.
Annaâs hazel colored eyes widen in alarm, yet she couldnât seem to stop herself from smiling. âNo-no, Rain donât you dare. Last time you did it I couldnât stop laughing for an hourâ, she said in a cheery voice as I sweep her off her feet and hug her again.
âAlright. I wonât, but you got let me get you something to eat, deal?â, I ask as I walk us down the hall, out of my room; Anna in my arms. I look back toward my room to find Pierce standing in the doorway; arms crossed over his chest, watching us with a masked expression. Yet is that worry I see within the depths of his emerald colored eyesâŠ.no he possibly could never be worried about someone like me? Could he?

Pierce
I watched Rain walk downstairs with Anna. Something was up. Rain was hiding something. But what? Sheâs never even shown a hint of fear around any of her enemies, well anyone for that matter. Iâve never seen her look so vulnerable. What could make her so scared?
I shut Rainâs door and silently followed after them.
I hear Rain speaking to Hersel (heâs a wereleopard with a liking for Rain. I hate the overprotective asshole); one of the guys in our band of allies, in a laid back tone. I glower at the ground in irritation when I see Rain blush as the asshole comments Rain about her cooking and she turns bright red. I know Rain doesnât see Hersel or any guy as a good suitor for herâŠor me that matter, but every time she reacts to one of the guysâ comments or actions or whatnot I feel fucking pissed out of my mind. Damn these emotions. Ugh. Thatâs what I get for being a damn demon with a soul.

RAIN
ââŠhahahaâŠstop kidding, Hersel. Iâm not that great at cooking. Anyoneâs able to make eggs and bacon, moronâ, I laugh as I slap Hersel on the shoulder, playfully. He grins and tries to grab my ass, probably thinking I like him. I smile forcefully and slap his hand away a little too hard and he winces in pain, but grins. Maybe he thinks Iâm teasing him? Is this guy delusional or what?
âWhat do you think youâre trying to grab, mutt? My ass? I hope youâre not planning on doing just that unless you want your fingers snapped and a bloody nose, wolf. âCause thatâs exactly whatâs going to happen, sweetheartâ, I said in a falsely cheerful tone while gritting my teeth. He didnât seem to take my threat as the truth for he just seem to smile a secret smile then winked at me and walked off, saying âOh youâre one of those kind of girls.â
I frown at the dumbass and then I hear Anna calling me from the Kitchen. I sigh and start walking toward the hallway leading straight to the dining room and through to the kitchen. That when I bump into a large masculine body in a black tank and jeans.
âSorryâŠer, Rain. I didnât see youâ, Rishka grumbled, yet he didnât seem very âsorryâ as he said. I glare up at the muscle-bulging werelion with his light reddish hair, shadowing his dark mysteriously handsome face in some sexy type of emo-hair style. I always want to just grab the ends of those silky strands of his hair and pull him down to me for a heated kiss. Damn the man was as fine as can be. I was tempted to do just that with him looking all sexy with that bed head of his. The wolf within me seemed to agree with a rumbling growl of approval.
Then I hear Anna whining for me to feed her from somewhere within the depths of the kitchen. I sigh and walk toward the kitchen once again.
âRainâŠ?â ,Rishka asks in a curious tone. I look over my shoulder at him, his light green eyes watching me nervously.
âHm?â was all I could say. God the man was over-the-top damn fine. MmmmâŠ
âThereâs a guy outside asking for youâŠhe says heâs one of your relatives?â
I look at him, dumbfound. Then I realize what he just told me. I shook my head in confusion. âBut I donât have anyâŠâ
Just then a man walks in; his gleaming silver hair shimmering down his back in waves and his bright aqua blue eyes watchful and empty of all emotion. WaitâŠI know this guy.
NoâŠno it canât be him. He died I saw him die.
âGabe?â I asked just before I dropped to the ground and darkness swallowed me up from the world and into nothingness.
Rishka
It was so astonishing to see Rain so frighten. Her face paled two shades of white (if that makes sense) and her petite body trembled and I could hear her heart quicken rapidly. She seems soâŠso vulnerable when she stares at the shiver haired man before us. I just wanted to pull her to me into the protective warmth of my body and hug her, adoringly. Yet I suppress the thought. I shake my head and glower at the stranger that had announced himself as a relative of Rainâs to me at the front entrance of the mansion. I just knew Rain didn't have any relativesshe told me that long ago yet I wasn't thinking clearly.
He smirks at me and smiles harshly at Rain while Rain looks at him in horror.
Tears spilled from her eyes and before I could react and catch her, her legs went limp and she drops to her knees in dismay. âGabe? Gabe? My Gabe?â she begins to whimper and her body shook withâŠsobs (sobs! The bravest harshest leader I know as a girl was crying her heart out).It feels as though my heart would shatter into a thousand pieces. I start toward Rain, yet the guy named Gabe arrived in front of her first, kneeling down beside her. His cold empty expression was gone, yet his blue eyes revealed a caring side? Who was this guy to Rain? Is he a threat?
âYes. Itâs me, Rainâ, Gabe murmurs in a soft tone. I stood there not knowing what to think, but I knew one thing was for sure this guy was wounded or he just killed someone.
