Mr. Wilson yelled at a girl who was caught playing with her hair so the whole class went off by his yelling at her and lecturing us about how important mathematics is in our lifeā¦ āHow did you manage a whole semester without going madā¦?ā Aaron asked fiddling with the pen. āWelcome to the maniac clubā¦ā I smirked. He grinned. God! How cute can he be? His smile grew wide as if he knew what I was thinking.
āHeyā¦Roseā¦ā Aaron ran after me. āWhere do we goā¦?ā I frowned. āMathāsā¦assignmentā¦ā He said eying the books in my hand. āOh!ā I was thinking hard to say something when a car honked bringing me out of my thoughts. āGet inā¦ā he said opening the passenger door. āUmā¦ā
āGet inā¦Iāll drive you homeā¦We can finish that work off for today than weāll have the whole weekend freeā¦āhe said pulling me inside. He was not even giving me time to talkā¦he sped up through the roads and I was at my home in few secondsā¦ āYou drive like a maniacā¦ā I said smiling. He grinned. I had no choice but to invite him in.
āDonāt you feel bad about being all alone in this houseā¦?ā Aaron said eying the houseā¦ā Hey...how do you knowā¦ wait are you stalking meā¦?ā I asked him smilingā¦ āYesā¦I could probably pounce on you with a knife nowā¦ā he laughed.
āYou can be alone even if you have a person around youā¦thatās how I felt when my mom was here so I guess I was pretty used to being aloneā¦ā I said handing him coffee mug. āThanksā¦ā he said sipping the hot coffee.
We worked on the assignment and finished it sooner than I expectedā¦Aaron is really pretty goodā¦he will be some serious competition to meā¦I thought. āDo you miss your dadā¦?ā His question caught me off guard.
āI donāt knowā¦ā tears trickled in my eyes as I lied. āDonāt you think Mr. Wilson should find loveā¦It certainly will help his moodā¦ā Aaron said suddenly changing the topic. I frowned. āI think love will change that manā¦ā he said eyes distant. āWhatā¦?ā I asked dumbfounded. He grinned. The wall clock struck 6. āHeyā¦I have to go workā¦ā I said gathering all the stuff that we spread on the floor to work on the assignment, he helped me pick upā¦I ran into my room to freshen up.
āDidnāt you goā¦?āI asked as I saw Ron staring at our family portrait. I ran into the kitchen and picked up the keys hurrying outsideā¦Ron stood by my car. āWhat are you planning to do this weekendā¦?ā He asked. āNothingā¦ā I said. āWell, I have a surprise for you thenā¦ā he winked.
The work at diner was tiring some todayā¦ I slept like a rock as soon as I reached home.
āDid you think of a planā¦?āAaron said grabbing a chair and sitting beside me with his food plate set on the tableā¦All my friends abruptly stopped whatever they were talking and stared at Aaron. He waved his hands in front of my face. āHave you seen a ghostā¦?āHe smirked.
āNopeā¦just wondering what you are doing here?ā I said. āAm I not welcome in your groupā¦?ā He said trying to sound hurt. āYou are more than welcomeā¦itās justā¦umā¦we didnāt expect you to sit hereā¦ā Amy babbled.
I introduced Aaron to the group...Itās not like that they donāt know who is he but I wanted to give a formal introā¦He corrected me when I said Aaronā¦āItās Ronā¦āhe kept saying. āHey, Alā¦āHe waved to his brother who was scanning the crowd probably for him. He walked towards us throwing wary glances at meā¦I shrugged.
āDid you think of a planā¦?ā Ron asked as Alan squeezed conveniently into our group. āWhat planā¦?ā I asked. āWe thought that we should find Mr. Wilsonās loveā¦ā Ron grinned. āWhatā¦?ā Amy stared at us.
āThat was not even my ideaā¦ā I said to herā¦ āMr. Wilson in loveā¦that isnāt going to happenā¦Aaronā¦ā Beck said. āRonā¦āhe grumbled. I giggled at his dislike at his name. āEvery person deserves to be happy in his lifeā¦āRon pointed.
āWhat do you propose to doā¦?ā I asked. He shruggedā¦I laughed and was awarded a glare from him. āYou are a man full of thoughts but no ideas to implement themā¦ā I said. āAlā¦What do you think we should doā¦?ā Ron asked. Why would Ron ask him, he would sure ignore considering us as crazy, young teenagers.
āLettersā¦?ā Alan thought out loudā¦ āGood oneā¦broā¦āhe said patting his backā¦āWhose name should we mention in those lettersā¦?ā Beck asked. āMrs. Tingleā¦I have seen her trying to flirt with him sometimesā¦ā Eddy suppliedā¦This is ridiculousā¦ I have never thought our group as crazy teenagers but maybe I havenāt seen this side of themā¦They were all bouncing with joy as Ron told them his planā¦ āWe all are crazyā¦āI said. Ron grinned widely.
āWho is going to write the letterā¦?ā Amy asked. Amy and Beckās gaze flickered towards meā¦āHeyā¦ I have no idea of how to write a love letterā¦ā āAlā¦Will write...ā Ron said. Alan nodded.
āDo you have any idea of what you are doingā¦?āI asked as we walked back to our classes. Everyone face held a sheepish grin as they thought about the planā¦ā I told you everyone needs to enjoy their lifeā¦ā Ron winked. I nodded my head in disbelief.
Ron stayed surprisingly quiet throughout the classā¦Iām sure that crazy brain of his is concocting more plansā¦ other classes passed by soon and I found myself walking home aloneā¦
āRoseā¦ā Ron honked. āGet inā¦āHe said unlocking the back seat door. āOh! Noā¦I donāt want to be victim of your mad drivingā¦āI said. āCome onā¦ Iāll drive slowly if you wantā¦āhe said. I wasnāt surprised to see Alan sitting in the car. True to his wordsā¦he drove slowly.
āArenāt you going to invite us inā¦?ā Ron said already in the houseā¦āShould Iā¦? You arenāt the one to care about formalitiesā¦āI smiled. He dragged Al with him but he seemed uncomfortableā¦ I gave them coffeeā¦ Al took his mug tentatively and his finger tips brushed my skin and tickles ran all over my body, our eyes met and I found myself drowning in those eyes of his yet again.
āRoseā¦ā Ronās voice shook me from my reverie. āDo you want to see the lettersā¦perhaps you may find anything to changeā¦ā He said. Al took out a red color envelope from his pocketsā¦
His cologne scent lingered on the paper he wroteā¦ It really felt goodā¦ I shook my head and started to read the contents of the letter. Itās not poetic yet poignant in expressing feelingsā¦āYou write wellā¦āI said. āMy brother is sort of into writingā¦ā Ron smiled. āJust try to use small wordsā¦Itāll suit Mr. Wilsonās style and Mrs. Tingle likes to boast about her vocabularyā¦soā¦better use big wordsā¦āI said.
āImpressiveā¦āRon winked. They left as soon as the clock struck 6 p.m. I woke up startled as my phone rang continuously. Who would be at this timeā¦? āRoseā¦?ā āRonā¦what the hellā¦?ā I shrieked. I could hear his laughter ringing on the other end. āI will pick you up todayā¦at 7.30ā¦āHe said. āWhatā¦7.30ā¦I donāt think even school doors will be opened at that timeā¦āI said. āI know itā¦We canāt do these things in front of everyoneā¦āhe said. āGet readyā¦āhe said and clicked the phone off. I fell asleep on the bed.
āRoseā¦wake upā¦āRon yelled at me. āWhat are you doing hereā¦?ā I shrieked. āI told you to get ready by 7.30ā¦ā he growled. āFineā¦Go downā¦Iāll be there in five minutesā¦ā I said. He nodded and leftā¦
āYou are insaneā¦you know thatā¦ā I shrieked at him as I saw him waiting by his car. He grinned mischievously. āI donāt know why Iām even coming with youā¦ā I sulked as I sat in the car.
It felt like childish to do such thingsā¦Why canāt I just say ānoā but if I had just said it I would have missed all the fun that happened that day. The college was almost emptyā¦it felt weird to see it emptyā¦something different that I see from everydayā¦To my utter surprise Alan joined us in this crazy mission. āWhere do you think is Mr. Wilsonās locker is?ā he asked eying all the lockers in the staff room. āI think itās that one over thereā¦āI pointed to a locker on the fourth row, painted yellow. He picked the locker and placed the letter neatly in his mathās text book. They hid another blue envelope with a red rose in Mrs. Tingleās lockerā¦ We hurried outside into the courtyard.
āDid you see Mrs. Tingle todayā¦?ā Amy asked us as she set her plate downā¦I frowned. āShe was so much fun todayā¦We liked her class. She was jubilant and strange thing is that she pinned a red rose into her hair.ā āWhatā¦?āI shrieked. She frowned at usā¦āDoes it have something to do with our planā¦?ā Beck asked. I nodded.
āMission accomplishedā¦ā Ron stated. āWhatā¦?ā He waved us to follow him. We threw our plates into the bin and followed him. He hushed us as we passed by the staff roomā¦We opened the back door window and silently peeked inā¦ I was surprised to see Mr. Wilson holding Mrs. Tingleās handsā¦ She was blushing so hard when he spokeā¦
āWhat is he talkingā¦?ā Eddy asked pressing his ears hard to the window. āWhy donāt you just go and ask himā¦?ā Ron laughed. āHeyā¦Itās not good to pry on love birdsā¦āI said closing the windowsā¦
āIt was the first time I saw him smile and you knowā¦ umā¦ there is strange feeling when I saw them happy togetherā¦likeā¦āI tried hard to explain what I was feeling. āYou are happy that you made someone happyā¦ā Alan said in almost a whisper. I stared at him.
āThanksā¦ Though I felt it is crazyā¦I think I understand why you did itā¦āI said to the Blake brothers. Ron grinned and Alan flashed his secretive smile. āShe is right...man. It felt really good to see him laughing after all this timeā¦ā Eddy said. āI always knew that they had something going in between themā¦āBeck said. āOh! Reallyā¦?āAmy asked raising her eye brows in question. āItās funny that it just took a simple letter to get them togetherā¦āAmy said smiling.
āSometimes simple things are what we need to make us happyā¦āRon said. She nodded. His very words had an unusual effect on meā¦they stuck to my mind throughout the day.
Mr. Wilson was cheerful in the class. Everyone was surprised to see him smiling all through the class and when he saw someone yawning in the class, he asked him to go and wash his face. Ron laughed at me as my mouth dropped open.
āHowā¦?ā I asked. āEveryone has something in life that keeps him sane and happyā¦you need to find that one thingā¦Mr. Wilson smile faded away with the death of his wife and returned when he found someone to fill her placeā¦ā Ron said.
I should have listened to him when he said something for my own goodā¦I could feel the night creeping up on meā¦the comfort of being inside my dadās car stared to wear off as my car crawled into the night spaceā¦ the hooting of owl and the whimper of the wolves didnāt help my cramped up nervesā¦I took deep breathsā¦once Iām homeā¦Iāll be safe in the confines of the wallā¦I
