Voldemort was her father. Because of her Albusâs grandparents had died.
âWhat am I going to do?â she screamed in her head. She couldnât tell Albus, she just couldnât. What would he say? How would she bear to see him everyday from now on and forever? Evangeline couldnât.
âWhere do you think she went?â a voice, unmistakably Albus.
âI donât know,â another voice replied. âItâs useless to even try, she could be anywhere!â
âNo!â Albus replied firmly. âIâll go this way, and ylu go that way.â
There was a sound of pattering feet. Evangeline cowarded into the corner, burying her face into her hands. Someone opened the door. A boy with dark hair and green eyes opened it.
âAre you Evangeline?â he asked, shining a lantern into the dark dull room. He crept and knelt down next to her, his hand on her shoulder as he closed the door turning on the light-switch.
âWhatâs wrong?â
Evangeline spoke in a muffled voice. âYou wouldnât understand. And I appreciate your kindness, but I would rather be alone right now, thank you.â
James rolled his eyes. âWhat a girl, Iâm a year older than you. Of course I could understand it, even though itâs probably girl stuff.â
She didnât answer back.
âI wonât tell anyone,â he said, trying to be comforting, âI swear! Iâll even do the Unbreakable Vow!â
Evangeline looked up, her eyelashes wet with tears, âHonest?â
He nodded intently, wanting to know this dark secret she had, no matter how stupid it might be.
âNot even Albus?â
âNope!â he promised. âNo one is going to know.â
âIâm his daughter.â she sobbed again, retreating into her former position.
James was confused. âWhose daughter?â
âVol,â she tried again, steadying her breath. âVoldemort.â
He was wide eyed now. James thought he had died more than 20 years ago. This is so weird. âYou mean him?â he asked in disbelief. âVoldemort?â
She told him everything, vented to him, and cried more than she had ever did in her life. James took her to Madam Pomfreys office at 3:00 in the morning. They were both exhausted, but Evangeline was half asleep, as James half-carried her back.
When she woke up, she was greeted with a warm comfy bed, and a pair of shining round glasses.
âMadame Pomfrey?â she croaked.
The old woman nodded, sitting Evangeline up. âAre you alright dear?â
âYes, thank you.â
âYou had us very worried young lady. We thought we had another outrage of disappearances again. You had Mr. Potter worried as well.â
âAlbus?â
âAnd Mr. James.â
âItâs alright dear. Drink this, it will help you sleep.â
Slurping the creamy conoction, she sunk back into the pillows and melted into darkness.
âImperio.â
âHere is the cake I promised you.â
âCrucio.â
âAvada kedavra.â
The face of her father, Voldemort appeared.
âI have a task for you.â
âKill.â
More voices whispered making her toss and turn uncomfortably until she shook herself awake.
âEvangeline?â Albusâs head hovered over her.
âAlbus?â
âYouâre okay!â
âSorry I worried you.â
âThatâs alright. Say Evangeline, would you like to come over to meet my family during the winter?"
She tried to smiled brightly. "Your parents, are they okay with it?"
Albus nodded. "I've already asked them. We're leaving in two days so make sure you meet me at the Great Hall before the train leaves."
The next two days traveled in a blur. Evangeline was horrified and guilty. How could she have agreed to such a thing?
"Are you ready?"
She nodded jubilantly. "I'm all set."
They rode and talked about their Professors, homework and spells. Albus taught Evangeline how to play Wizard's Chess. Although she lost quite a number of times, she managed to win one.
"Mom!" Albus ran to a woman with fair skin, and bright orange hair after they had gotten off of the train.
"Albus dear how are you?" she asked, kissing his forehead. Evangeline felt a twinge of envy and guilt.
"This," he gestured to Evangeline, "is Evangeline."
"Pleasure to meet you. Thank you for having me."
James came off the train soon after. He looked at Evangeline, and she looked back. They locked gazes for a moment.
âSorry about the other day.â she apoligized, going up to him.
He smiled. âThatâs alright.â
"Lily may be a bit annoying so brace yourself. She was dying to go to Hogwarts this year." Albus explained.
"Really? Can she do magic as well?"
Albus smiled. "She got really mad once at us. Then the windows started to fly open, the lights started to flicker, and glass exploded everywhere.â
"Wow. She can really do that?"
Albus nodded. Then he turned to his mother. "Where is Dad?"
"He's out somewhere doing his thinking. Best not to bother him, but he'll be back."
"ALBUS! JAMES!" a small girl with flaming red hair ran to hug her brothers. "I missed you so much!"
"Lily, this is Evangeline." Albus said formally as he struggled to get her off. "My friend at school."
Lily ran to meet her and shook her hand. "Do you like school? Can you do magic?â she asked, as though she didnât need to breathe. â Do you have a wand?" and she drowned her in questions. "Albus said that you came out of a whirlpool.â Lily turned to her mother. "Can Evangeline sleep in my room tonight?"
"You would have to ask her politely dear."
"Would you like to?" Lily asked Evangeline impatiently jumping up and down.
"Sure."
Lily smiled brightly. "Wait, now I'll go clean it up!" she said as she rushed to her room.
The door opened. "Hi Dad!" James said running to his father.
"Hello James, and to you too Albus." and then he turned to Evangeline. The moment he looked at her, his scar seared with pain. She looked so familiar, like she was a resemblence of someone. Evangeline looked at him the same way. Guiltily. "Ah.."
"What is it father?" James asked concerned.
Their father smiled lightly. "Just a headache, and who might you be?"
"Oh, I'm sorry sir. I'm Evangline sir."
He held out his hand. "Pleasure to meet you. Harry Potter, Albusâs father."
He was Harry Potter. Good grief. What was she supposed to do? Tell Albus? No bloody way.
After dinner, when everyone else was sleeping, Harry went into the kitchen, he looked into the sink, horrified.
"My scar hurt Ginny. It hasn't hurt for nineteen years. When I looked at her, it seared with pain."
Ginnyâs eyes widened. "But nothing is wrong with her. She's such a lovely girl.â
âSomething must have been done to her. And the way she looked at me was with pure terror and recognization."
Ginny crossed her arms. "That doesn't mean that you should make assumptions. We'll see how she is. And when she seems to be," she searched for a word, "different, then we'll see. If anything happens, weâll protect our children no matter what.â she touched his arm, looking into his eyes.
Harry nodded as he took her hand.
The next morning, Evangeline woke early. She couldnât hide it any longer, she had heard the conversation between his parents last night.
Creeping into Albusâs room, she wrote a note.
âDear Albus,
Iâm sorry. I should have told you earlier. Voldemort was my father. Thatâs why I ran away like that because I recalled my memory so suddenly then. My fatherâs the one that caused the Great Battle of Hogwarts. I told him that your dad was going to be born, and thatâs why you donât have the grandparents you couldâve had because he murdered them.
My father was a murderer. Iâm so sorry Albus, I thought that we could be friends, but I donât think your father would ever except me.
Evangeline V. Riddleâ
She folded it and placed it next to his hand, and slowly tiptoed downstairs.
Her bags were on her back, her wand in her hand.
Than she stepped out the door, but before she could, someone grabbed her shoulders. Evangeline spun around.
âWhere do you think youâre going?â James asked.
âAway.â she looked into his super cute brown eyes.
He rolled his eyes. âI read your note.â
She blushed furiously, even her fingers turning red. âWhy would I care? I can take care of myself.â
James chuckled. âI seriously doubt that.â
âWhat do you want?â
âJust tell my father that youâre his daughter.â
âI canât do that,â she shook her head vigorously. âThe things that he did to people, itâs unforgettable. He killed them for fun, and.....â she started to shake. Crying. âHe killed my mother.â
James closed his mouth.
âWhat kind of person am I?â he wondered.
âIâm sorry, I uh...â he scratched his head. âI didnât know.â
She wiped her tears of her face, then looked up at him and smiled. âThatâs alright. But honestly, I canât tell your father.â
âYou have to. Come on, youâre Albusâs only friend.â
âFine. But if I get kicked out, I am never speaking to Albus, Lily or even you especially!â
He laughed. âYou wouldnât be able to resist me.â
Evangeline blushed even more, as she looked down, and when she looked up, he was looking into her eyes.
Of course theyâre special moment was broken up by Lily.
âGood morning, good morning, to you! And you! And everyone else in ths world!â
They quickly broke gazes, as Evangeline quickly ran off, and hugged Lily. âMorning!â
Minutes later, Ginny woke up, as she and the girls started on breakfeast.
âCan we have pancakes? With chocolate chips?â
âSure. Evangeline?â
âI think itâs brilliant!â
They cooked in the kitchen, laughing, and full of smiles.
Harry came downstairs, as he kissed Ginny good morning.
âYuck!â Lily said, watching her parents. âKissy stuff is disgusting.â she said airily, as she turned back to her scrambled eggs.
âBoys, set the table.â Ginny called out.
âSure mum.â Albus said, as he grabbed the forks and spoons from the drawer, quickly setting up the table himself. Obviously James had thrown away her letter.
âWhereâs James?â Ginny murmured to herself.
âRight here,â James replied, as he came back from outside, with fresh pink roses. âFor the table.â
Ginny smiled. âHow sweet.â
âBreakfeast is ready!â Lily shouted at the top of her lungs.
Everyone say down at the table, and started to eat.
James sat across of Evangeline. She looked up, and he was staring at her. She blushed, and looked down again, smiling.
âThank you for breakfeast.â Evangeline said, as she helped carry dishes with Ginny and Lily.
âIâm glad you enjoyed it!â
Harry sat at the table, reading âThe Quibblerâ while sipping a cup of tea.
James looked around from the corner, and gave her a look, meaning to tell him.
She nodded reluctantly. âUm... sir? Could I talk to you. Alone?â she added.
He nodded. âSure.â
They went outside.
âYou know donât you.â
âKnow what?â Harry asked.
Evangeline sighed. âIâm Voldemortâs daughter.â
Harry looked at her stunned. âWhat?â
âYeah, only his followerâs knew about me.â
âWhat about your moth...â
âHe killed her,â she sighed. âUsing the Crutiacious Curse. Narcissa took care of
