My life is my life. I am who I am. But, somehow, people can’t seem to understand that. They’re always like, “Omg! Stop it right there. You can’t be smart to hang out with us. You have to be me. Just get rid of you.” I mean, what’s up with that? It’s not fair. It’s totally screwed up. Life is totally screwed up. Well, mine is anyway.
“Hey! You need to get out of the bathroom. I’ve been waiting forever to use it!” screams my little brother, Tommy.
“I will. But, I’m a girl and you’re not.” I pushed open the door, and see my boyfriend, Raven, walking up the stairs. “Shit,” I say under my breath. How did he, why did he, why is he here? I run into my room, and lock the door. I didn’t want him to see me in a towel. Or without my make-up on. We were headed to church, but I didn’t expect him to come early. I didn’t want him to come early.
“Zadie, let me in,” says Raven. God, I didn’t want to talk to him. It was about our fight earlier that week. We hadn’t talked since then, but he wanted to make up. And when we made up, we kissed. A lot. And, sometimes it weirded me out. Literally. But, he is my boyfriend, and I do have to make up with him sooner or later.
I get dressed, and open my door. Raven's leaning against it, so he falls onto the floor. I start laughing. He looks up at me evily. He pulls me to the ground, and I start to protest. "You're going to ruin my hair!" I scream playfully.
"Mhhmmm," he says, and grabs me to pull me closer. He pulls me on top of him, and kisses me on the lips. "Are we okay now?" he asks. I smile.
"I don't know. I mean, that fight was pretty intense. I guess so." He looks at me.
"You're joking, right?" I shake my head. "Well, in that case..." He pulls me closer and tighter, and kisses me. I pull back, and smile at him. "So?" I shake my head. "Damn it!" he says, pulling away. "You say, I guess so, but I want you to know so!"

I laugh at his ridiculous behavior. I kiss his neck, and he calms down a bit. He turns toward me, and I look at him.
"I do know so," I say quietly. "I know that I love you, and that's that," I whisper. He looks at me. It was the first time I'd ever said, 'I love you' in my life. I don't see my parents often, and I hate my little brother.
Raven chuckles at bit. "And you want to know what? I love you, too. I always have, and I always will." He leans into me, and I kiss him, he kisses me, like the world was falling into place.
