TRUE LOVE NEVER DIES.
When you read this I will be dead and buried at Arlington. I know it would be hard for you. I am sorry it had to be this way. When I left to the war I knew I wanted to come back to you but I wrote you a letter just in case I didn’t make it to back. So many things to say, you gave me the biggest love in the world. How could a man be more loved? Is going to be a sad time for you, baby, one of the saddest in your life. I am sorry that you have to go through this. All I wanted was to marry you and make you the happiest woman in the world.
Annie, when we met I knew you were the one for me, sweet, honest and true. I was so lucky. The Army called to me since I was a boy, I always wanted to be in the Special Forces, serve my country, no I didn’t want to be hero but I wanted to join the Army. Please, forgive me for inflicting pain in your life, you do not deserve that. My mom liked you from the first moment she met you. She said “you are so lucky Bobby to have met this girl”, she was so right. Mom never liked my girlfriends, not that I had that many, only two, you were different and she knew so.
I wanted to come back and marry you, have a family. I always dream of us having the perfect family, a boy and a girl, now everything is different. I know you will cry over my white stone in Arlington but don’t suffer for me, I am at peace now, finally. When winter comes snow will cover my stone, I know I will feel the warmth of your love. You know my grandfather is buried there too, just a few feet away from me, he gave his life for his country, for freedom. Arlington is my home now but you will always be the safe harbor for me, I will always be close to you, that I promise baby.
When I was a young boy I dreamed of the day that I could wear my Special Forces uniform, now I would be in it for the rest of eternity. Annie life had separate us physically but not spiritually, we will be one forever, true love never dies. I am very sure you would have guys after you, they would see the beauty within that I saw and also the beauty outside, just follow your heart, I don’t want you to be miserable, I want you happy. Look, true love comes once in a life time, even if I am that true love you deserve to be happy again. I remembered our last kiss, it was perfect. So perfect.
I wish I could kiss you again. Never part, always one. It would be the hardest for my mom, I know she still have my brother but is not the same, no mother wants to lose a child, I feel so sad for her but in due time she will find peace, I know she will. Do help her cope, let memories bring laughter and not tear, would you be that kind hand for her baby?. I know I want count on you. She loves you, she wanted us to get marry, it was one of her dreams. I am sorry she had to wake up to a rude awakening. You know life is not easy, you know so because of the many people you had lost in your life. My mother was always sweet and caring just like yours. She had given Ike and I the best care possible. When we moved to our house, she put a flag outside and made a beautiful garden, our house was a home where love was more important than money, that is why I grew up believing in true love, honor and loyalty, three things that seemed to be missing now a days.
Annie, be strong, remember the first time we met, how our eyes connected, we owe it all to Ike, he knew it would be love. My brother always said he knew the perfect girl for me, well, he sure did. I would always remember the day I gave you the engagement ring, your face was glowing like a Christmas tree. Our goodbye kiss will stay with me forever. I would always come to you, no matter how many lives you would hear from me and I would make sure you would know I love you forever.
Yours
Bobby
