kind of world that she came from, but he understood the longing for home that lived within an individual.

Have you ever been, she hesitated to voice her full question.

He could tell that she didn't want to put to words her thoughts of him ever being punished in that way. "It's time to begin your training." Moto brought himself and Kaily to their feet.

She frowned and put a hand on his arm to stay his movement. "Have you?" She asked again.

He nodded.

"When and why?"

Moto winced. It doesn't matter, little one.

Kaily stared into his eyes for a long time and her frown deepened. Was it recent? I can see it in your mind. There was silence between them, and she continued to stare into his eyes as if she could see to the center of his being.

Moto fidgeted and looked away. He felt shame that Kaily would see the truth in his mind.

Because of me, she said. "I am so sorry." She laid a hand on his chest.

He took the hand and brought it to his mouth and kissed it. He pulled her close unable to meet her compassionate gaze, and the need to hold her close to his heart. It doesn't matter.

It was during those three days you shut me out of your mind, wasn't it? Kaily persistently demanded.

Yes, little one. Moto solemnly replied.

That's why you don't like to be smacked. She guessed.

Part of it, he answered. He didn't like facing this with her, but if he was going to demand that she overcome her own embarrassment for him; he could do no less for her. I was quite the unruly child growing up. This time was different. He wanted to explain more but couldn't find the words.

Kaily titled her head and looked him in the eyes. "It's okay. I don't need an explanation. I am so sorry. I would never want to be the cause of such pain for you."

Moto shook his head. "You are not to blame for what happened, Kaily. Please don't ever blame yourself. I didn't want you to know, because of this." He said waving his hand in the air as if that would fill in where words failed him.

She jumped into his arms, wrapped her legs around his waist, and kissed him full on the mouth.

He tightened his arms around her and deepened the kiss. How could he have lived without her for so long? He set her on her feet and rested his forehead against hers for a moment. "Let's see if we can get you trained."

"I'm not feeling that great." She laid a hand on her lower abdomen.

He frowned. "Where's the bag Sari brought for you?"

"I left it in the shower room." She said. "Why?"

"If I know, Sari, she thought of what you would need for," he didn't say what for. She was getting brighter with embarrassment by the moment. Instead he glanced at her abdomen. "Sit, I'll be right back."

She sat as ordered.

He felt her gaze follow him to the shower room. He saw images of her lying down and knew that she preferred to spend the first day of her womanly cycle resting. It wasn't an option he was going to accept as a way to deal with her discomfort. He returned with a small pouch in his hand. He handed it to her. "Put one of those under your tongue to dissolve. It works pretty fast for Sari. Take one as needed but not more than four in a single day."

She opened the pouch and peered inside. She pulled out what looked like a small cocoa bean and held it up with a frown. "What does it taste like?" She asked.

He laughed and shook his head. "How would I know? I don't need that, and I never thought to ask Sari what they taste like."

She licked it and made a face. "Not great, that's what it tastes like."

"Probably why it goes under the tongue and not on it," Moto forced himself not to laugh at her, but he couldn't help the look of amusement that showed on his face or in his voice.

Kaily stuck her tongue out at him and put the offensive object under her tongue.

He helped Kaily to her feet and pulled her back against his chest. "I can find a better use for your tongue, little one." He said and was rewarded with a sharp intake of breath. He released her but kept her hand in his and pulled her to the back of the cave. He wouldn't say that she struggled not to go back there, but he felt her reluctance, nonetheless. He stopped at the entrance of the hallway that led to the training room. Moto turned to face Kaily. "Don't worry we're going to take it easy today."

She smiled at him but remained silent.

He led her through the short tunnel to the training room and inside. He felt the panic rising in her and frowned. Once inside he closed the door with a wave of his hand. It's okay, little one. Relax. He sent waves of reassurance into her mind. He stopped in the middle of the room and pulled her into his arms. "It's okay," Moto said aloud.

She closed her eyes and laid her head against his chest.

Still frowning he rubbed her back and continued to reassure her with his emotions and soothing words, neither of which seemed to make any difference. There still was panic rising within her. Her breathing began to come in short intakes of air, and her heart began beating faster. There was a cloud rising within her mind that he couldn't push back, not that he had a clue how to do that in the first place.

She lifted her terror filled eyes to meet his. She shook her head back and forth. "I'm sorry, Moto. I can't do this." She turned in his arms towards where the door had been before he could stop her. "Where's the opening?" She asked.

He turned her back around. "Kaily, look at me!
