drew his head towards her.

He kissed her and pulled back.

She glared at him and pulled on his braids.

He laughed and lowered his head to hers. He took possession of her mouth as he did her body. He loved her until they were both again on the edge of the precipice and staring down into the abyss. Wait for me, he ordered.

Tell me when, she replied.

He lifted his head and stared in surprise at her.

She smiled up at him and nodded.

He kissed her hard and penetrated her deeper, harder, faster without mercy. He pushed them both as far as he could and held them just on the brink of the precipice of pleasure to the point neither thought they could survive the jump. Just as the pleasure gave way to pain, he gave the order. They both jumped off the precipice together and floated in a cloud of ecstasy.

It was some time before the cloud of euphoria dissipated and they floated back to Earth. He pulled out, breaking the connection despite her silent protests to the contrary. He kissed her and reassured her that he was not leaving. He took the spare vest he brought from his bag and wiped the evidence of their bonding first from Kaily and then himself. He helped her put her shorts back on and then lay back down beside her and gathered her in his arms. He used the bag for a pillow. "I should probably take you back to your cottage where it would be more comfortable, but I don't think I have the strength at the moment."

"I don't have the strength either." She turned into his arms and snuggled as close as she could get. She put her bare legs between his trouser clad ones for warmth.

He gathered a shivering Kaily as close as he could. Why didn't you put something warmer on, little one? he chided.

She shrugged. It wasn't a thought that occurred to me when I woke to an empty bed.

He winced at her words of censor. I thought you would be better off in your world than you have been in mine. He liked that he could again reach her mind.

She looked up at Moto, so that her eyes were locked with his. "I accept that your intentions were in my best interest, but please, please stop making decisions for me."

He frowned and caressed her face. "When have I made decisions for you?"

She exhaled. "All the time," she put her forefinger across his lips as he opened his mouth to protest. "You decided to leave me with the Agenors, didn't you?"

He didn't reply, but the image of the first time he saw her there passed through his mind.

She nodded. "I see it in your mind. I may not be as adept at reading your mind or pulling the images from it as you seem to be with me, but I know you decided to leave me there. You asked me to stay with you on Ki, but then you were almost never around," she put her forefinger over his lips again and shook her head, "please let me finish." She removed her finger and eyed him.

I will remain silent until you have finished, little one. He promised. He, through a great deal of will power, kept a smile from showing in his expression.

"You decided when to take me home. You decided what I could and could not understand and withheld information from me, that you didn't have a right to withhold. Trust me enough, to let me decide for myself what I can and cannot handle. Please, Moto, I need that from you." She held his gaze and waited for a reply. When none came, she lowered her face and snuggled back into the warmth of his embrace.

You're right, Kaily, he finally replied.

I know it isn't going to be easy for us, there is so much for us still to overcome, but I think what we have is worth fighting for, don't you? She asked.

Yes, I do. He said.

Good. She traced patterns against his smooth chest. Aren't you cold?

No. Moto wrapped his arms tighter around her. He thought about how it felt to finally take her. No one talked about what consummating the bonding ritual felt like, but there was a part of it that bothered him, and he couldn't decide what it was. While they were connected, he felt his being merging with hers, but when he broke the physical contact, he could feel them separating. For all he knew, that was natural. He always envisioned that when he found his one that he would take as a bonded mate that their center being would merge and stay merged, two separate complete beings merging as one. He didn't know if he was bothered that he felt for a time and then lost it or if he was afraid the bonding didn't take, but at the same time he was again in her mind and she in his. That had to mean something.

She reached up and rubbed her finger between his brows. You worry too much. Has anyone ever mentioned that to you before?

He laughed and pressed her to her back. He kissed her. I have heard that on occasion.

Just occasionally? Kaily teased.

You're in a precarious position to be so sassy.

She laughed and slowly slid her hand down his chest, over his stomach and beneath the waistband of his trousers. You think so?

He laughed and caught her hand before she reached her intended destination. He settled back into his original position beside her and gathered her close. He held her hands against his chest. I stand corrected.

She laughed and tried to pull her hands out of his grasp. You don't trust me? She asked, still laughing.

He shook his head, not in the slightest at the moment.

Smart man, she ceased her struggles to get free.

He held her and stared up at the arch. For now, he was content to simply hold his Kaily and enjoy the peace between them. While he
