completely stopped in front of the doorway.

He looks around. “Whoa,” he breathes.

“What gives man?” I rub my forehead, my head pounding with the fresh beginnings of a new hangover.

I squint in the general direction Seth is looking, trying to focus the two images weaving in and it. I clutch the wall to keep the room from spinning. Classes and practice were going to be a complete shit show today. I grimace when the images merge into one and quickly realize we are in the fucking wrong apartment.

The sink isn’t caked in grime and mildew. The crowd of glasses, which usually stink up the air with a rotten egg-like stench, aren’t cluttering the counter. These folks are clean motherfuckers, I think while moving my leg up and down, noting how my shoes don’t stick to the floor. Hell, I can even see my reflection in the floor if I squint hard enough.

“We’re in the wrong apartment again.” I groan, starting for the door. “Let’s go before they call the cops.”

“Stop you idiot,” Seth hisses. “I used my key to get in.” He jingles them in front of my face and I squint, taking a moment for everything to click in my drunk little head.

“Oh.” I look around again, rubbing my eyes at the organized line of shoes in the hallway. Several of those pairs are mine. The television screen is off to the side with the kayak still leaning against it, with the couch sitting in front. “Wait, this is our place?” It had to be. Just a sparkly, magical version of the dump we lived in. Even the air smells of pine and citrus rather than its usual rot. “Wow.” I step into the kitchen, opening the cabinets and seeing shiny clean glasses staring back at me. “Psycho roommate did all of this?”

“I’m a genius!” Seth shouts, not even bothering to keep his voice down with arms raised as if he just crossed the finish line. He stalks over towards psycho roommate’s door. “Genius!”

He bangs on her door, laughing maniacally.

“What the hell are you doing?”

“Getting breakfast, numb nuts,” he says, continuing to bang on her door. “Now help me.”

I jump at the clicking sound of the door opening behind me, and it takes me a moment too long to recognize the two figures swerving in and out are a very disheveled Lucas. He looks around suspiciously and lifts his legs while staring down at the floor. “Are we in the wrong apartment?”

I shake my head and the movement makes me instantly nauseas. Never again. I’m never drinking again. “No, psycho roommate cleaned.”

“Wake up, Rachel!” Seth bangs over and over again on her door. He scowls over his shoulder at us. “You going to stand there or are you going to help me?”

Lucas groans and rubs his face. “I’ve been up all night.”

“Really?” Despite my nausea, I waggle my eyebrows. “Millie?”

Lucas grins mischievously, but says nothing.

“In the name of breakfast, get your asses over here.” Seth kicks the door.

“Oh my god.” Psycho roommate throws open the door.

Her hair is tied in a frazzled low pony tail. Her pajamas are some terrible concoction of a long button down shirt patterned with stripes and hearts with pink fluffy slipper socks. She looks absolutely…. I cock my head to the side, trying to find a word for it. Definitely not sexy. But not bad either, a small voice says in the back of my head. Cute. She looks cute. I scrunch up my nose at the thought.  Now, that’s a word I haven’t used to describe a girl in a long while.

“What the hell do you want now?” She looks at her watch (who wears a watch to bed?) and rubs her eyes for a split second before raising the watch closer to her face. “It’s four in the morning!”

“Breakfast!” Shouts Seth, punching the air. “Breakfast!”

I watch Seth continue to punch the air. He’s obviously having way too much fun with this. And sure, picking on Rachel-psycho roommate- whatever her face is, was hell of a lot of fun, but Lukie is tired and I’m desperate for a bed. I glance over at my door, wondering if I can easily slip away, but at the same time, I’m quite curious what she’ll do with Seth’s antics.

I watch as she rolls her eyes and goes to slam the door, but Seth blocks it with an arm and a leg.

“You must be freaking kidding me!” Psycho roommates shouts. She sniffs Seth’s neck and I shake my head, wondering if I really am trashed since the bastard’s face is turning bright red. “Are you drunk?” I groan, rubbing my temples at the shrill in her voice.

“Not so loud,” I moan.

Seth scoffs and grabs her wrist, yanking her into the middle of the room. She shakes his arm off her, but rather than return to her room she scowls at him. “So what!” He shouts while her hands rest on her hips. “Make us breakfast.”

“No.” She points her finger at him. “You make me breakfast.”

I laugh at that. Seth make breakfast? I don’t think I’ve even seen him handle the microwave. He does know how to use the phone though and call pizza delivery. At least I know how to unwrap protein powder and swish it around with some milk or water.

I look over and see Lucas grimacing. “I don’t think you want that,” he says, crossing his arms. “From any of us.”

Psycho roommate sighs and her shoulder’s slump. She sniffs and looks about to cry. I roll my eyes. For a moment there, she actually looked like she was going to give Seth hell, now she’s become this sniveling little girl. That is, until she scowls up at Lucas. “I cleaned this whole place and I didn’t even mess it up. The least you could do is let me sleep.”

“A race!” Seth shouts while raising his fist in the air. The bastard has way too much energy for it being 4am. “We can have a race. Loser
