Chapter Fourteen
GIA
Blu’s apartment is nice. It overlooks the river and I’m immediately drawn to the large French doors so I can look out. It’s been a long night and being back in the warmth makes me feel tired all of a sudden. Blu disappears, and when he reappears, he holds out a shirt for me. “Get out of that wet dress,” he mutters. I take it and he leaves the room again.
I slip off the dress and my sodden bra and slip on Blu’s large shirt. It smells of him and I press it to my nose, inhaling deeply. When I’m with him, I feel safe and relaxed. I sit on his couch and tuck my feet under me then lay my head to the side and close my eyes. I’ll rest until he returns. That’s the last thought I have before I drift off into a deep sleep.
I feel myself being lifted and I rest my head against Blu’s shoulder. He presses a gentle kiss to my forehead and then I’m laid down. My eyes flutter open and Blu is smiling down at me. “Go back to sleep,” he whispers, pulling a blanket over me. I snuggle into the bouncy pillows and close my eyes again.
When I wake, my arm is above my head. I try to move it and something cold rubs my skin. I open one eye and look above me to see a set of metal handcuffs holding my wrist to the headboard of the bed. I pull it and it clunks against the metal. That son of a—
“I tried to get furry ones. I hate the thought of the metal marking your skin,” comes Blu’s deep voice.
“What are you doing?” I ask, my voice is croaky from the lack of sleep.
“I have to keep you safe. Orders, I’m afraid,” he explains. He looks smug watching me from the corner of the room. He moves closer.
“Orders from who?” I ask.
“Your brother,” he says.
“Since when do you listen to Vinn?” I snap. “You once held a gun to each other,” I add.
“Breakfast?” he asks brightly.
“No, I don’t want any fuckin’ breakfast. Get these cuffs off me right this second,” I hiss.
“No can do, I’m afraid.” He leaves the room and I scream in frustration. He reappears quickly. “If you’re gonna be silly, Gia, I’ll cover your mouth. Don’t make me do that.”
“Does Vinn know you have me cuffed to your bed? He’ll kill you,” I yell.
“His orders were that I keep you safe and out of sight. If I don’t cuff you, what are the chances of you staying here like a good little girl?”
A tear rolls down my cheek and I swipe it away angrily with my free hand. “I don’t understand,” I whisper.
He leaves the room only to return a minute later with toast and coffee. My stomach growls, but I turn my head away from him as he places them on the bedside table. “Gia, eat something,” he says softly. I shake my head. “You’re only spiting yourself.”
“Get me Blade,” I mutter.
“Blade?” he repeats.
“I don’t want to be here with you. Get me Blade.”
I feel him lower until his hot breath brushes over my ear. “Not a chance, baby. While my ring is on your finger, you’ll have to put up with me,” he whispers and my eyes shoot to my cuffed hand, where the diamond ring is back in place. “And that’s gonna be there for a long time.”
I groan. It’s like torture, only worse, as Blu lays down another playing card. “I win again,” he says with a smirk.
“You’re driving me insane,” I snap. “Put the damn cards away.”
“It’ll get boring if you don’t join in,” he says, dealing the cards again. I swipe my hand across the table and the cards scatter across the floor. It’s only been a few hours and I’m already losing my mind. When I get out of here, I’m gonna hurt Vinn so bad.
“You didn’t tell me everything last night,” I say. “What happened to your mum?”
“The moment’s passed,” says Blu with a sigh. He picks up the cards and puts them back in the box.
“You’re Italian. Where did you live when you were a kid?”
“Are you hungry?” he asks.
“I want to talk,” I snap. “What happened to your mum?”
“She died,” he snaps. “I told you.”
“How? What happened?”
“Fuck, do you ever stop talking?” He stands and heads for the door.
“Get me Blade! Get me any other fucking Kings Reaper who isn’t you!” I yell at his retreating form. Ass.
BLU
“I swear to god, you lay a finger on her and I’ll slit your throat,” I warn Blade. He holds his hands up.
“Brother, I have no interest in Gia. You remember it was always her that threw herself at me,” he says and I glare harder. “Hey, she’s tied up, she can’t throw herself at me.”
“Just stay out of the room,” I snap, shrugging on my jacket.
I’ve been summoned to meet with Riggs at the club and I need to check in on Hannah and Molly. By pure bad luck, Riggs sent the one man Gia was asking for.
Riggs is in his office, so I take a seat. “We’re certain Cobra’s club is working for Ricardo. There’re lorries coming over from Italy and dropping at a warehouse here,” he says, throwing a piece of paper with a scribbled address on it. “Ricardo was spotted at the warehouse today and Cobra’s men were unloading it last night.”
“So what’s the plan now?” I ask.
“Vinn wants to wait. I don’t think we should, but he wants more.”
“How much more? We have all we need to storm the place and wipe Cobra off this planet for good. He tried to kill Hannah and Molly,” I remind him. “Not forgetting that he left Raven for dead. This is our fight, not Vinn’s,” I snap.
“Actually,” says Riggs, opening a brown envelope. He pulls
