I laugh. “Did I wake you with my loud thinking?”
“I was hoping you’d lay a kiss on me again,” he says, grinning.
“I only do that if I’m concerned you’re not breathing,” I say.
He opens his eyes and his expression is suddenly serious. “Stop overthinking it.”
“I can’t help it. What if you go to all this trouble and it doesn’t work out?”
“Why wouldn’t it? I’m not letting you go, Gia. It will work because we’ll make it. I’ve not been in a relationship since Hannah. I don’t fall in love with just anyone. After her, I swore I’d never get into a relationship again and yet here I am.”
He pulls me in for a kiss. “Are you going to tell Hannah?” I ask.
“Baby, I’m gonna tell the world,” he replies, grinning.
Vinn is due any minute and my breakfast threatens to make a reappearance. I pace back and forth until the door finally opens and he walks in. Blu gently squeezes my hand in reassurance and Vinn shrugs out of his jacket, eyeing where our hands touch.
“What’s so important you break the agreement to stay here and keep quiet?” he asks Blu. “Someone could be watching this place.”
“With your men watching it? I doubt that,” says Blu.
“I’ve told Ricardo that you’re having doubts and so you’ve gone away to clear your head,” says Vinn, looking at me.
“When will you tell him that the wedding is off?” I ask.
“Right before I slit his lying throat,” says Vinn coldly. “Why am I here?”
“I wanted to speak to you alone, but your sister is too strong headed,” says Blu. He pulls my hand from behind my back, the one with the ring that I’d been hiding from view. “I wanted to do it all properly.” He holds out my hand and Vinn stares hard at the ring.
“What is this?” he snaps. “What the fuck are you asking me?”
“I think that’s obvious, Vinn,” I say, sighing.
“You’ve not been honest about who the hell you are and now you want to marry my fuckin’ sister?” he yells. “Azure fuckin’ Rossi, as I live and breathe. The boy who ran from his responsibilities,” he shouts. Blu scowls and Vinn offers a sneer. “Oh yeah, I started doing my research the second I saw that fucking look in your eye. I knew you wanted Gianna.”
“Vinn,” I snap. “Stop.”
“I can’t have a coward marry my sister, no matter what your name holds,” he says coldly.
“I’m not a coward,” mutters Blu. I slip my hand in his and give it a gentle squeeze. “I was a kid. I blamed my dad for the death of my mum and sister. Even you must understand that.”
“You’re no longer a Rossi. You’re a biker. You want me to agree to let my only sister marry a biker?” he hisses.
“Dad would want me to be happy, Vinn. You know he would,” I say. Vinn falls quiet and takes a few calming breaths. I move towards him, taking his hands in mine. “If you say no, I won’t marry him.” I feel Blu begin to protest and rush out my words. “But I won’t be happy without him. I’ve spent days thinking about if it’s the right thing for me, and honestly, I still don’t know, but when I think about life without him, it makes me miserable. Vinn, I want to be happy and I didn’t think it was possible with everything that's going on around us, but he’s made me smile and kept me going. I owe it to us both to explore this more.”
Vinn looks from me to Blu and then back again. “If he hurts you, can I kill him?”
I smile and nod. “Of course. I’ll call you straight away.”
He kisses me on the forehead. “A long engagement. No kids until you’re married and he works for me.”
“We’ll agree to terms once we’ve all had a chance to let this settle in,” I say, because I know for a fact, Blu won’t work for Vinn.
Vinn holds out his hand to Blu and I smile. It’s a huge win for us as Blu shakes it firmly.
Once Vinn’s left, I throw myself at Blu and he spins me around. “I can’t believe it was that easy,” I say.
“I thought he’d at least pull a gun on me again,” says Blu.
I wrap my legs around his waist. “Bedroom; now,” I order, kissing him.
Blu’s phone rings, waking us both from our afternoon sex-fuelled sleep. He answers it and after a few minutes sits up quickly. “Okay, on it.” He disconnects and dives out of bed. “Pack your shit. We have to go.”
“Why?” I ask, pulling on my jeans, my heart hammering in my chest.
“Vinn’s men have spotted the same car driving around the area a few times in the last hour. We’re going to the club.”
“I thought you said it was too dangerous putting me there?” I ask, grabbing a bag and throwing some clothes into it.
“It is but for now, it’ll have to do.”
The clubhouse is alive with action. Kids are running around crazy. Bikers, some I’ve never seen before, are filling the bar and the ol’ ladies are in the main room chatting and laughing together. Anna spots me and rushes over. “Riggs called lockdown,” she says. “He’s worried.”
“Vinn is too. I just text him and he’s sent my mum to stay with my uncles in Spain for a few weeks. We’re only here for the night until Vinn sorts out somewhere else for us to go. He thinks it’s putting everyone else in danger with me staying here.”
“Surely we’re all better staying together,” says Anna. I know I feel safer here with all these people, but Ricardo obviously has a part to play in all this worry, so maybe they’re worried he’ll
