I join the rest of the women, catching up with Frankie and some of the others I haven’t seen in a while. She spots the ring on my finger and snatches my hand for a closer examination. “What the hell is this?” she asks, smiling.
“That is Blu marking her as his,” says Eva, wiggling her brows.
“No way!” gasps Frankie.
A movement from the circle of women all clambering to look at my ring catches my eye. I spot Hannah moving away from us and cringe. I didn’t realise she was there.
BLU
Blade hands me a beer and I take it gratefully. I’ve got to stay alert in case Vinn finds us a safe place this evening, but one won’t hurt. I see Hannah and smile. “You okay?” I ask and she nods. I kiss her cheek. “You look pale.”
“Sickness,” she says. “It’s bad.”
“Shit, sorry, Hann. Anything I can do?” She shakes her head.
“Gianna’s nice,” she says and my eyes narrow. I’m missing something. My brain is trying to catch up and then I see it—Hannah is upset.
“Can we talk somewhere?” I ask. “I need to tell you something.”
“If it’s that you’re getting married, I already know. If it’s that you bought her the same ring as me, I know that too.”
I wince. “I wanted to tell you. Everything was so rushed to get here safely—” I begin. She holds her hand up and I stop talking.
“It’s not that you didn’t tell me. Maybe I . . .” She pauses. “It’s just weird. I’m having your kid and . . .” She shrugs. “What if it changes everything between us?”
“It won’t. You and Molly are my number one girls. Nothing will come between us. But I have room for another and she’s it.”
“She might not let you come for dinner on Sunday or have date night with Molly on Monday,” she continues. “And the same ring, Blu? Really!”
I shrug helplessly. “I’m no good with shopping, you know that. You loved that ring so I figured it must be a good one.” I gently stroke my thumb down her cheek and smile. “It won’t change anything. Gia’s nice. You’ll like her, so will Alice. I can’t stay single forever just so I can keep supplying you lesbians with my sperm,” I joke and she smiles. I wrap her in my arms and gently kiss her on the head. “I love you, Hann. All of you.”
My eyes meet Gia’s, who’s standing behind Hannah and staring at me like a wounded puppy. She doesn’t look happy and I inwardly groan. All these women in my life are complicated. I smile but she doesn’t return it. Instead, she heads for the stairs.
I rush after her, catching her around the waist and pulling her against me. I place my mouth at her ear. “Stop,” I growl. “What’s wrong?”
“I heard what you said,” she snaps, trying to break free. I haul her against me harder and carry her up the stairs to my room. Once inside, I release her and stand against the door. She spins to face me. “Nothing will change. Hannah is your number one girl,” she spits. “You love her!”
I smirk at her outburst, which only angers her more. “Gia,” I say, calmly, “what you heard was a grown-up conversation with me reassuring my ex that nothing will change our arrangements, and it won’t. Of course, my child will be my priority. Both of my children.”
Gia places her hands to her face and groans. “I forgot about that. Oh god, it’s too complicated. You have a kid and one on the way.”
I take her wrists and move her hands from her face. “You’re overthinking again. It’s not complicated. Hannah is in love with Alice. They have two beautiful kids that I happen to be the father of. We’re a patchwork family and you’ll fit in just fine.”
“What if she has the baby and decides she loves you,” wails Gia.
“She does love me, and I love her. But we’re not in love. Gia, me and Hannah have a great relationship. I’m so lucky to have two women who love my children and let me be a part of their lives. I won’t ever change that. I want you to be a part of it. To join my family. Because I love you.” The words leave my lips and I feel like a weight has been lifted. Like the words have been laying heavy on my soul for too long. Gia stares back at me, her eyes wide.
She suddenly launches herself into my arms and presses her lips to mine in a hungry kiss. “I love you too,” she whispers.
“How can I want you again,” I groan, pushing my erection against her. She grins, wriggling. I place her feet back on the floor and pull her jeans open. “I didn’t know you get jealous easily,” I smirk, spinning her away from me and pulling down her jeans. I push her to bend over the bed, rubbing my hand over her ass.
She looks back at me over her shoulder. “I was not jealous,” she scowls playfully.
I rub my finger against her opening and she hisses. “Sure you weren’t.” I grin.
“I was merely wanting to know where I stood in the whole patchwork family thing,” she says defensively. I push my finger inside her wet opening and she hangs her head, squeezing her eyes closed.
“And are you clear now?” I ask, unzipping my own jeans and pushing them down under my ass. I pull a condom from my back pocket.
“Not really. Maybe you can run through it again,” she says.
I put the condom on and she watches. “Gianna Romano,” I say, lining myself at her opening. “You,” I push inside and she cries out, “belong,” I hiss, “to me.”
I grip her hips and slam into her over and over. “Repeat it back so I know you understand.”
“I belong,” she cries out again, “to you.”
“Good girl,” I pant, taking her hair and pulling her head back to give me
