“No Raphael?”
“This is for mated pairs only. Besides, he just likes to drive so he knows where I’m at when I leave.”
They pulled away at a crawl. She realized it was less about the drive and more about the many wolves lining each side of the way. It wasn’t far to the dormitories at the back of pack lands, but this was a parade, and Fabiana and Adonis were the couple on display. They accepted well wishes and catcalls. The wolves made thunderous noise, heralding them as they got closer to the dormitory. By the time they made it, Fabiana was breathless with exhilaration.
“Come on, baby. It’s not over yet.”
Fabiana gingerly got out the car, careful not to expose herself, and waited for Adonis to meet her.
“You were supposed to let me do the thing,” he admonished.
“I wanted to be outside.”
He looked back at his pack. “They are magnificent, aren’t they?”
“Yes.”
“But tonight, I don’t want to focus on them.”
His golden gaze was hot on her, a promise of things to come later. She took his arm and allowed him to lead her into the dormitory and immediately to the right, where the stage was.
“We’re going to our booth. We get there from back here.”
Fabiana nodded, watching dancers race back and forth behind the curtain. She tried to see what they were doing but Adonis pulled her along and up a spiral staircase into a darkened hallway.
Raphael was waiting. “I wanted to make sure everything was prepared. They didn’t leave you any surprises. I’m leaving.”
She hadn’t seen much of him since the night he’d told their story, and he didn’t quite look into Adonis’s eyes now.
“Thank you, hermano, for everything.”
Raphael swallowed and nodded. “Siempre.” He patted Adonis on the shoulder before heading back the way they came.
“We’ll be fine, pequeña. The story is just as hard for him to tell as it is for me to listen.”
“Okay.”
“Let’s leave all that behind and watch the show.”
She nodded, eager to see what was in store. All this setup was driving her wild.
Inside their booth was a black leather couch that appeared to be quite comfortable. In front, a low table held two flute glasses and a bottle of champagne on ice.
“Raphael. We caught him leaving a gift.” Adonis shook his head and smiled. “I’d gather it’s from his stock; he collects these.”
After he seated her, he checked the bottle. “I was right. Taste of Diamonds. It costs over two million a bottle.”
“Two million!”
“And we’ll enjoy every drop just to piss him off.”
Adonis lifted the bottle before leaning forward and looking down from the viewing box. “My mate is here to celebrate with her pack!”
The mated pairs at booths and tables on the floor in front of the stage howled and clapped.
“Let’s show her how the Moonstone welcomes one of their own!”
At his bellow, the lights went out and Fabiana gasped in shock.
Adonis settled next to her and pulled her to his side. “I’m here, pequeña. Watch.”
A single spotlight lit the mid portion of the stage, and Ashley stood in the center. Her ash-blond hair was piled high on the top of her head in a bun and she wore a flesh tone leotard. Fabiana almost did a double-take.
Slowly, drums started from high in the background, thumping through the room, and Ashley rolled her shoulders before pushing her arms above her head. A bright-red cloth cascaded from the ceiling only to be caught with graceful fingers.
In sync with the drums, she took a step before rising to her toes and leaning to swing in a circle, one hand grasping the fabric. It was as if it were an extension of her, a lover holding her close to ensure she didn’t fall.
A low hum joined the drums, a rhythm more felt than heard, and Ashley gripped the cloth with her other hand and tossed her head back. She spun faster and faster until the electronic sizzle of a beat entered the musical progression. She stopped on a dime, lifting one leg into the air for a perfect split.
Fabiana clapped with the rest of the pack, proud for her friend and the beauty in her movement. The applause died down and she watched, breathless, as Ashley climbed the cloth, maintaining her split.
The music intensified, a throb of sexy beats and bass. Ashley rolled her stomach and closed her legs—a suggestive temptation. Another spotlight lit up the corner of the stage, illuminating a man.
His hair was dark, his body honed from years of practice and control. The shorts he wore were flesh tone as well, giving the appearance he was naked. He crouched to the floor, crawling like a beast toward Ashley’s undulating form. Suddenly, he grabbed for the cloth and jerked. She fell right into his arms, her bun coming loose and her hair flying around her.
“Exotique.”
The lights went out, the music grew louder, and then the stage lit up again. Three red cloths now hung from the rafters. Ashley and her partner occupied the center one while two other pairs had joined the performance, one couple per cloth.
They were in different positions of …
“Oh my.”
“Hmmm.”
Adonis pressed his hand down Fabiana’s side, spreading the heat from the passion mix that had died while her focus was on the stage.
The partners moved gracefully and sensually. One the left, the woman hung from the bottom circle of her cloth, her legs spread wide as her partner positioned his face between her legs.
The woman to the right had the fabric around her thighs, her feet together behind her partner as he spun them rapidly, his groin pressed against hers.
Ashley was atop her
