prior to his cast. The enormous pig closed the distance and Atlas braced himself. Instead of seeing the normal moves he needed to block the attack, his vision flashed a tinge of red. Yikes!

Figuring it meant nothing good, he dove to the side instead of trying to block the charge. Hellrazer spun and faced him as he slowed. The second attack came head on again and this time Atlas lined up the block as shown. The heavy animal smashed into his staff and he felt the wood creak in his hands. The sheer weight and force of the animal was too much to handle, and it knocked him backward.

The creature swung his head, and one tusk caught Atlas on the leg. A flash of red power announced Quelin’s attack as the boar squealed and a patch of hair on its side lit up like a dry cedar tree. Its beady eyes never left Atlas, and he swung his head again toward the druid. This time he was ready and instead of trying to block the attack head on, he deflected the attack to the side. Activating Counter, he smashed the staff into its snout and then followed the attack with Blade Chase. The three hits thumped into the beast and if not for the damage notifications, Atlas would’ve assumed they did nothing to it. Not wanting to waste his chance, he followed this with his Triple Threat to combo in his attack phase. The final blow of the combo smashed into the animal’s head and Atlas looked to the damage.

Hellrazer dealt 6 HP damage to you with Gore.

You dealt 2 HP damage to Hellrazer with Counter.

You dealt 8 HP damage to Hellrazer with Blade Chase.

You dealt 8 HP damage to Hellrazer with Triple Threat.

The boar stumbled backward, obviously dazed from the onslaught. The damage was low, but he was still using the Basic Wood Staff he made after dying. A better weapon was essential to him making a difference. The left side of the beast looked like a pincushion with all the arrows sticking out of the hide. The right side, by comparison, looked like a scorched wasteland. Black burn marks covered it and no hair remained.

A roar of anger assaulted his ears before Ragnarok charged, shield first, into the side of the monster. The exchange was actually pretty comical considering he hit with full force, but the boar didn’t budge so much as a step. It made the creature redirect his attention to the warrior. Rag must’ve included a taunt ability in the attack.

Atlas stepped back with a sigh of relief and activated Nourish, targeting the warrior. He looked a little battered. The spell completed, and he scanned the battlefield. The second Gorer was dead with burn marks and arrows in it. They must’ve finished it when Hellrazer attacked me.

The two runners still darted through the party, and Atlas caught sight of one just in time to step out of its path.

“Quelin, can you repeat your spell from the lamia? We could use some heavy damage on this animal?” Gemma asked.

“It’s still on cooldown,” Quelin grumbled to the ranger.

“I guess I can do it then,” she said as she lifted her bow. Three arrows sat on the string at one time, and the bow glowed for a moment before the three projectiles melded into one large ballista-style bolt. The string pulled taut, and she released. The giant arrow soared forward and punched directly into the boar’s side. Blood splattered from the impact and splashed along the ground. The animal teetered on his feet and fell to the ground.

With an obvious struggle, the beast returned to his feet, but he didn’t look very steady.

“That time again, boys and girls. One last barrage should finish it,” Ragnarok called.

They all rushed forward and activated abilities. Fire and arrows peppered into it, and Ragnarok’s sword sunk into its side. Atlas activated his Triple Threat, and the combo ended with the telltale thump into its skull. The barrage was all the beast could handle, and it fell to the ground.

You dealt 8 HP damage to Hellrazer with Triple Threat.

Hellrazer died.

The group let out a collective breath as the monster went still. Smiles dotted their faces for a few moments before Gemma hit the ground. A Runner clipped her feet out from under her. They forgot the two pigs were still on their feet.

The group burst into motion as Ragnarok chased after the closest one. Gemma launched arrows and Quelin flung fire. The pigs moved so fast it was difficult for anyone to land a hit. Rag looked like a kid chasing a chicken around a farmyard. They were much faster than he was, and he couldn’t pin one down. They never stopped moving, and it made it difficult to hit them. With a flash of insight, Atlas grinned. He activated Entangle and focused on the space directly in front of the nearest Runner.

The spell completed and vines burst from the ground. The pig entered the area a moment later and one vine snagged a front leg. The pig squealed in surprise and tried to dash free only for additional vines to wrap around it and pull it to a stop. With the creature trapped, Arrows slammed home and a fire arrow took it in the face. It fell to the ground and ceased its movement.

You dealt 1 HP damage to Runner with Entangle.

Atlas repeated his spell with the second pig and drug it to a halt. Ragnarok finally caught up with this one and his sword cleaved into its neck at the same time an arrow caught it where its heart was.

You dealt 1 HP damage to Runner with Entangle.

The group looked around the clearing carefully before relaxing this time. All five animals lay dead in the space. They walked over to Hellrazer and Atlas reached out to touch him.

You received 5 Raw Hog Hide.

You received 2 Thick Hog Hide.

You received 4 Raw Hog Loins.

He collected the items and dumped them into his bag.
