in Everton retired, my brother took over the firm, not only working with the mayor at Town Hall but also becoming Everton’s go-to person for any and all legal issues.

“You’ve really thought this through.”

“Yes, that’s why I’m telling you to take your time to think about it. I’ve had a chance to catch up with this idea, but I just threw it on you. If this isn’t what you want, we’ll create a plan together.” I smile, scooting close to him and placing my head on his shoulder.

Camden’s arm comes around my shoulder, his fingers combing through my ponytail. “I love you,” he whispers.

My breath catches, and my heart halts. I sit up and turn to look at him. His eyebrows are slightly scrunched, and his eyes mirror love and fear as he stares at me.

A slow smile tilts my lips as I regain my composure. “I love you, too.” I tilt my head, more tears spilling over. Goodness, my emotions are out of control.

“You do?”

My shoulders drop, and I lean forward, my lips a hair’s breadth from his. “Of course I do. Did you think I couldn’t?”

“I hoped you did,” his honesty rings around us.

“I love you,” I repeat for emphasis. “I may have never thought I’d be in this situation with you, but I’m so happy that we are. You’ve been the best kind of surprise.”

I touch my lips to his in a gentle kiss, and Camden’s hand comes around my neck, keeping me close to him as he growls and deepens the kiss. His tongue pierces through my lips, demanding my full attention.

Everything feels right in my world as I kiss him back with as much passion. My hands come around his neck, tangling in his hair as my tongue strokes along his. A shiver travels down my spine, and with Camden’s help, I move over his lap, straddling him.

Camden chuckles, breaking the kiss and looking down at my bump. “Our boy’s growing, huh?” He rubs my belly, which keeps us from getting too close.

“He sure is.” My hand lands over his.

“You’re gorgeous,” he says. “If you wanted to live in a run-down shack, I’d say yes just to wake up to this smile every day and kiss these lips each night.” His other hand cups my cheek, his thumb brushing my lips.

“Everton may be a rural town, but we’ll have a real home.” I lean into his touch.

“Does this mean I’ll finally get to ride a horse?” Camden’s eyes light up in mischief.

“Uh, yeah, no.” I shake my head. “Easton told me you’ve been wanting to ride, but you’ll need lessons first.”

“With a hot teacher?” His eyebrows waggle, and my head drops back in laughter.

“We’ll see about that. I’m not sure this teacher will be up for riding lessons anytime soon.” I point to my belly.

“I’ll give you a different kind of riding lesson,” Camden counters. I can’t help the laugh that moves through me as his eyebrows dance on his forehead.

“I may be up for those types of lessons,” I wink.

“Kiss me,” Camden demands, so I do. I kiss him all night long as we make love and talk about the future.

chapter 29

Camden

I lie awake as the sun begins to paint the sky in light shades of orange and watch Ally sleep beside me. I hold back my temptation to brush away the messy strands of hair covering part of her face, so I don’t wake her up. I can’t believe she’s here. She gave it all up for me, for us to be together, and a hint of guilt gnaws in the pit of my stomach.

I don’t want her to wake up one morning and resent me for moving back to the States if she had the opportunity to create a life abroad.

And now, Everton. I never saw myself as a small-town guy, but I meant what I told her last night. I’d move to the moon if it meant having her by my side and in my bed, making a life together while we raise our son and make more babies.

Fortunately, I can work from anywhere, and I do see the appeal of raising our boy in a small town surrounded by nature and hardworking people.

No longer able to hold back, I bring my arm around Ally’s stomach, planting my palm over it and pulling her back to me. The curve of her ass presses into my lower body, and I bite back a groan. She gets to me every time, whether she’s made up in full glam or in sweats at home with messy hair.

“Hmmm…” Her hoarse voice sounds softly around my room as she wiggles her ass against me.

“Kiwi,” I groan, pressing my hand firmly against her to keep her still. Her giggles are quiet as she stretches, untangling our legs, and turning over to look at me.

“Good morning.” Her hand moves to my face, palming my cheek. When she leans forward to kiss me, I suck in all her sweetness like a greedy bastard stealing all the honey from the Queen Bee. My hand moves down her back to cup her ass, and I grab a handful, pulling her to me.

“I realized something in the middle of the night when I got up to go to the bathroom.”

“What?” I sneak my hand into her underwear, feeling her round ass in my palm.

“Stop doing that, or I won’t be able to speak.” She shivers as she peeks up at me through her lashes.

“I’ll behave,” I promise with a wink, which rewards me with a throaty laugh from her.

“Liar,” she points out and then continues talking. “Anyway, I just assumed we are gonna live together, but we never really discussed that. Spain was one thing, but I can move in with my mom until I get things sorted, or I can find a place in Everton, and then we play it by ear.” She rambles on and on, her cheeks flushing pink, making me smile.

“Kiwi…” I wait for her to
