One night I couldn't go to sleep. It was partially my fear of having a nightmare... So I got out a notebook and wrote a few poems. I thought that I should go to sleep but I didn't stop.
This is something that I wrote that night. It's ... somewhat like a poem towards the end ... I don't know what it really is. Just my thoughts:
I cannot sleep tonight
I guess I should say "day"
Because it is 12:30 AM
You wonder why I cannot sleep
It is not of fright
I am restless
I guess I just have too much on my mind.
I have school today
It will be bad if I get tired
But I dream
Well, I can't dream...
I think about everything
I have to write it down
It's already morning
I cannot sleep
And I do not think it'll help
If I try to count sheep
It is a hot night
The fan is blowing, full power
And just before 9:00 PM
I took a shower
The curtains are closed
So I do not know
If the moon is full or crescent
Dull or bright.
Is it future or present?
Oh ... Will I be alright?
I hope you like my poems!
If Anyone Understood
You can ponder life forever, but never have a clue
Every once in a while you say, "Oh, what do I do?"
You think it's all unfair, war, life, and love
So, instead of looking all around you, try looking up above.
I can tell, by that look in your eyes,
That you're lost in many ways, which isn't a surprise.
Clouded and faraway, you're so confused
Some make fun of this, but I am not
amused!
Determined to make it stop, you want to take drastic measures
It'd be nice if you could notice every single one of life's treasures
But, you just don't know where to start
To find the answers, you've been thinking
that you've been looking
In the very deepest part of your heart
Where did that shining, bright, and sunny spirit go?
Why did it leave? Your playful inner child
Screaming with laughter, it was very wild.
Like a bird, a blue jay singing,
It flew away from its nest, you,
Without it, you're losing, not winning
You wonder where it could've gone
Maybe to some other one
But, who?
This is what someone would say, if anyone understood
And not call me weird (sometimes
it's not good).
And only in my thoughts, my dreams, my heart
Do they even think
such things, which is the worst part.
It would be wonderful, living in that fantasy..
But, if I were, would this even have become of me?
Gone
Fading... fading
Not running away
Not by choice
Not at all..
Drowning out of memory and existence
In the middle of May
Being pushed down, deeper under
By others and their selfishness, jealousy, and greed
Thinking that they're getting what they need
Sounds of screaming, covered by thunder
After that part
At the bottom
Disinigrating... Evaporating... Depixelating... Just getting smaller
Floating away, blown by the wind
Until not even that
Until, finally, I'm nowhere.
I'm nobody.
I'm gone.
(This next poem is dedicated to a classmate of mine)
Would You Care
If you wake up tomorrow
To a world of gray,
Would you even care?
Would you be blinded
Even more than now?
You don't understand,
Possibly never will
That life is true
That things actually matter.
You say that it's nothing
You don't care if the world ends?
Do you care about anything?
Does anything make you sad?
Devastate you,
Tear your heart apart,
Make you feel a thing?
If not, you truly aren't thinking hard enough
Either that, or you're not human.
If you're not talking about weapons
You always have a bored, blank expression.
So, if you wake up tomorrow
To a world of gray
And are the exact same way
It will be hard for me
Not to say "What's wrong with you?!"
And slap you in the face.
The Willow Tree
The seed is planted
And grows to be
Beautiful, kind, and enchanted
Reaching out its branches to the sky, for everyone to see
Strong and mighty
Gentle and motherly
Powerful, almighty
Couldn't be more brotherly
It helps all who seek love and comfort, or just shade
It is friendly in many, if not all, ways
The animals love it and crawl all over. And when its color starts to fade
After all those years, that were once days
And the tree gets weaker, shrivels up, dies
Falls over. The branches no longer in the skies.
Are people like willow trees?
Maybe... In a way
But we don't provide homes for squirrels and bees
Although that is true, let's not forget
That we reach our branches to the sun some days.
Consoled by the Wind
I take a deep breath
Another long day.
Sitting under a tree, waiting for the hour's death.
Wondering if I should just go away
It's then, that I hear it
The woosh, the howl
Like the sky is throwing a fit
I must've been imagining when I heard that tree scowl
The wind is calmer, now
Feels more like a breeze,
I almost wonder... how?
The next part comes into my mind with ease
I love feeling this cool air
And hearing the voices
I get the urge to run, the wind blowing my hair
I think the wind is happy with my choices
I close my eyes, it feels like I'm flying
The feeling is beautiful! I'm really trying...
When I sit down, it all floods back quickly
I cry and the wind sings to me
It pushes the tree branch that swipes my shoulder
Consoled by the wind is what happened to me
Consoled by the wind, I realize, with glee
My friend, the wind, doesn't show up the next day
But I wait for it so that we can play.
Puppet
Long, silky threads
Or sometimes short, thick string
Tied in a knot, together
To a wooden handle
Controlled by a seen or unseen master
Restricting me from running faster
Apparently, I have no useful thoughts.
And master knows all.
If there was a way to escape,
Any way,
I would even be willing to fall.
Even sometimes, what I say is not decided by me
For I am just master's property
This is what I say,
I'm only free on some nights, in some ways
And if I live to see another day,
I cannot imagine what master will do next.
Stardust
Do stars have stardust that falls from the sky?
Once in a while, does it fall and rub off on one of us
So that we can fly?
Or have other powers?
Would it make us pretty as flowers?
Oh, oh my
I wonder why
Nobody has told me
About the stardust that falls.
Maybe it's rarely known, that's all.
And maybe the stardust can fall into our dreams.
Our lives could be more magical than it seems
If only I could know for sure.
Many changes could occur...
Do stars have stardust that falls from the sky?
