A quiet hush falls upon the site
I watch as your small coffin is placed into the ground
A tear rolls down my face
As I say goodbye
To my furry, cuddly friend
Then dirt covers up the hole in the ground
Like a hole in my heart
Being filled with sorrow
I recall as you took your last breath
And left this world
Left my life
I place scattered petals over your eternal resting place
And sitting down, I begin to cry
Weeping for the loss of a beautiful friend
One whose love knew no bounds
As only an animal can do
The sky opens up
And a downpour of rain follows
Echoing what I feel inside
Brushing away tears, I stand up to leave
I say a small prayer
Casting one last glance back at your grave,
I turn around,
To continue my life without you
My dear furry friend.

As the days pass by,
The grief in my heart
Is replaced with comfort and acceptance
For I know that you have gone on to a better place
A place of infinite love and peace
Where no despair can touch
You live on
In my mind,
My memories,
And my heart.
Your light is added to that of the cosmos,
Just as you lit up my life
My dear pet.
I will never forget you
For you are not gone from my side
Even though I can't see you
I know your spirit is eternal
And will always stay with me

Until we meet again
In the place where the depths of love
Is infinite
I run to you with open arms
And embrace my long-lost companion
Who gave life to my life
Joy to my heart
For we are together again
As faithful companions
In this place of the Spirit.

I remember you
And the sweet love you gave

On days of gloom,
On days of shine,
On days in between,
I cherish the memories of you
Close to my heart
For even though you are gone physically,
Your spirit lives on.
I remember your sweet, adorable face
Your cuddly self,
And playful personality
Blessed pet you were to me
A companion, a friend
I love you so
Even though you are gone from my life
I will remember you
And the sweet and unconditional love that you gave.
