She caresses her shiny bald head and remembers
to place her bright bold smile across her face.

She dresses in her sequined prom gown for chemo and
wears shimmering fake eyelashes to shroud her tears.
She reaches deep within her soul to find the strength
to fight this overwhelming mountain of cancer fears.

She uses humor to refocus her wandering mind and
allows her girl friends to paint her toenails purple.
She wishes for rainbow moments and fairy tale days
and reaches out with fingers of hope to grasp a cure.
