Poem

Alone at night with nothing but time.

Silence restricting me from sleep.

Straining my eyes,

peering into the dark,

looking for someone to reach out.

I am just alone now,

no one to fake the caring words and comfort.

How I wish to be nonexistent,

to never be seen in this world.

Scared to be alone,

but too scared to ask for it to change.

All the stars in my sky disappearing from sight.

Hoping for wishes that were never made to be true.

Holding back the tears of one too many disappointments.

Turning the other cheek,

locked into a smile.

A prison of false pretenses made for other's joy.

A forgotten memory.

To think I was forgotten so easily,

left outside in the cold,

crying out,

waiting for a response to my pleas.

Silence.

Uncertainty riddled in my head.

"Am I being forgotten?"

"Am I alone now?"

What to you have I done to leave me like this?

Distant from the crowd,

hidden in the blind spots,

invisible to those who used to see me in full light.

Hoping for a new day to bring me back into view.

But for now,

I am left abandoned in my dreams.

An empty shell of a girl I once knew,

the one I knew I could grow to be.

Empty of remembrance.
