Bernard the Budgie had a beak made of money
And wings made from dads cotton shirt
He fell off his perch with his feet in the air
Thank goodness he couldn’t get hurt
He landed on paper we found him much later
His tail made of wire was all bent
Dad got his pliers and straightened the wires
But his beak that got twisted was spent
If I were a budgie with a beak made of money
I would go to the seed store to eat
I’d spin them a line getting seed that’s most fine
And fly off with the bag in my feet
Our kids had a pimple on the end of his nose
We called it the beacon of Brum
Mam hung her coat from the end of his spot
And parked her broom in his bum
He’s such a rascal is our kid
He gets it from Dad is what’s said
Cos when he’s not out causing trouble about
Like Dad he’s snoring in bed
Our kid’s pimple burst with such a loud pop
It woke our Dad from his sleep
It frightened the cat who pee’d on the mat
And scarpered into the street
Father Christmas is missing his favourite shorts
And blames mummy Christmas he says
She picks up his clothes without being told
And washes them on sunny days
He says they’ll be flying from a wash line somewhere
Next to elves and reindeer alike
If he had a car she’d wash that as well
No wonder the North Poles so white
