BLINDED

Her playful bright blue eyes reflected
the colors in her fluid dress.
Her body captured the rhythm of the music.
She threw her arms in the air in sheer surrender.
She gazed at me, flashing a heavenly smile.
Then disappeared into to the crowded room.

The music added an excitement, and the pounding
was so unlike that of my heart.
She was like a shooting star
seen only in that magical moment.
Was I to be left in agony searching for this beauty?
Were my eyes playing tricks on me?

Suddenly there was a deep flash of blue
seen through this sea of bodies.

Approaching this vision my thoughts raced through my mind.
I was so taken with her I froze, unable
to compel my lips to release all that I wanted to say.
Had life crashed in and caused me to doubt her love for me?

She was everything I had desired; why did I stray?
I was still incapable of answering.
Will she ask this of me?
