Fire Breather
{“Beware the fiery wrath of the dragon.”}
Flame-filled explosion,
Draconic angry temperament,
Breathes from the reptilian jaws
Of one whose turf has been disturbed,
Of one who reveals a wrath of burning contempt
It warned you
And you did not listen
“Do not anger me, little one.”
the dragon had roared.
Sending blasts of hot, suffocating smoke and flame your way,
Making the walls of the once cool cave,
Shake and smolder
With the fiery proclamation brought forth,
Bellowed out from within its mighty girth
The caves walls smoking, crisp
For you tried to steal the dragon's precious treasure
And oh, just a couple of golden eggs too from the nest
And now, the dragon lets you know
What it thinks about that.
Blasts of fire spew forth from the great maw
With you at the receiving end
For your utter stupidity,
Of trying to steal from the dragon's treasure hoard,
Thinking you could sneak in
And slink about silently
But the dragon has both great vision and hearing,
And caught you in the act
Of trying to steal the precious gold, silver and jewels
Gathered therein, in treasure chests just as ornate
As what they hold inside their intricate depths
For you thought you could emerge from the dragon's lair, a King
Filthy rich.
But now, you have emerged
Only as Mr. Crispy.
So, a future warning to all those foolish and brave:
“To steal from a dragon will only result in one's utter demise.”
--Beware the fiery wrath of the dragon.--
Dragons
Great winged beasts of old,
Some say a frightful countenance they behold
Scaly, reptilian features
Of these ancient, wizened creatures
Breathing out plumes of fire,
To those they deem enemies; possessing a fierceful ire
They guard their treasures of gems and gold,
In their cavernous lairs of damp and cold
Just like they protect their young,
They are not to be outdone,
By that foolish dragon slayer
Looking to make a name for himself, a dangerous player
In this game of life or death
Each fighting to their last breath
In the end, the dragon usually triumphs, it's victory won
So its legend may live on throughout the eons, the classic tale of draconic might and aggression
Dragons; stories abound of their strength and ferocity
As some of these do tell also of their noble nature and loyalty,
To those they deem a friend
To break that oath, that trust would mean disgrace upon themselves they could not mend
So when one hears a tale of the fearsome, undefeatable dragon,
Know that they too are of a dual nature, like that of moon and sun
A fiery disposition they wield inside,
Yet maintaining a cool, collected composure they keep in stride
Dragon friend or dragon foe,
Pick a side but when choosing, do carefully so
For if ever in the presence of one as ally or enemy,
You might wish you had chosen more wisely
Dragons, their stories throughout the ages
Are remembered on these frail, dusty pages
Beings of myth and fantasy,
Never cease to be a subject of fascination and complex intricacies.
