The Beginning

They told me but I didn’t listen

Slow at first and sloppy
Then livelier and happy
Quick tunes that were so lovely
But fast is just what got me.

Before I knew it I was in it

The Realization

Power in a relationship
They say,

But they also say
Power in a relationship
Does not equate to love.

You have all the power
And all I have is dour
Reality.
I have to say I love you
Before you crack a smile.
And cook for you and cuddle
Lest you tell me goodbye.

I make my mind and change it
Because it cramps your style.
And ditch my friends
And change my plans
To have you by my side.

That in itself is quite alright
I wouldn’t mind, I would gripe;
But why always me me me
And never from your side?
