The Bus Ride by Serena Axel (inspirational novels txt) 📖

Winded and realizing how I was so out of shape,
the bus came, and through the doors I escaped.
I gave my coins and luckily I found a seat.
searching the sea of faces when our eyes then did meet.


Settled in for a long ride, I opened my favorite book
and took a quick moment to steal a second look.
Wondering what brought him to take this ride,
where he was going, and what was in the bag at
his side.

Distracted and unable to read, far from my warm cozy chair
I felt a strange feeling of excitement in the air.
The man next to me got up and off at the next stop
the newspaper he was reading he purposely dropped.


I jumped at the chance to see what was taking place
when there on the front page a familiar looking face.
Looked a lot like the man sitting right across from me.
My heart pounding, I cautiously raised my eyes to see.


There he was staring at me with a threatening glare.
I could tell him I didn’t know anything and didn’t care.
The man was wanted by the police for a heinous
offense
I am here, a simple change of my routine, does this
make sense?

He was wanted for questioning of two people found
dead
panicked a scenario of escape was playing out in my head.
If only I could get up, jump off of the bus and run
but I didn’t know if he was the killer, he might
have a gun.


Frozen in my seat not looking around wondering what to do.
The bus door opened and there between us stood a man in blue.
The officer in a tranquil voice asked the man to please stand
he reached over, grabbed the bag and cuffed the suspect’s hands.
