The Bus Ride


Observing the scene not finding a soul around
when my car violently gave out and broke down.
Thinking to myself I soon understood
black smoke spewing from beneath the hood.


I now had time to stop, and to reflect,
my precious T-Bird was suffering from neglect.
My car was more than just a shiny new toy
My ultimate possession, it was my pride and joy.


The leather upholstery had a smell so sweet
with all the horsepower beneath my feet.
Pulling myself together I must act fast
to be single-minded and complete the task.


With late nights at the office and little sleep
my appointment with the mechanic I failed to keep.
Now the truck will come and give it a tow.
To the garage my future paychecks will go.


Too many times I had bad mouthed the City bus,
now no time, and no choice,I had to do what I
must .
Running down to the corner without hesitation,
the concrete bench at the bus stop my destination.
