Chapter One
Adrian's POV
“Hi, my name’s Adrian Holt. I’m new here. They told me to see you for a schedule…?” The receptionist looked up from her computer where she had been typing what looked like, from here, a very…explicit book. “Oh, hello there, darling.” Darling? I’m not five. “You said you needed a schedule? Okay…” Betty, going by her name tag, shifted though the jumble of papers on her desk. “Adrian…aha! Here you go, dear.”
She handed me a light yellow paper with my name in bold on the top. “Uh, thanks.” I walked out of the office and looked around campus.
The buildings looked nice, I suppose, if you were into that whole bare brick thing. The courtyard had outside tables, big red metal monstrosities with benches on all four sides. It was my first day here at Razewood High School, and I could already tell that it was nothing like my old school, LA’s branch of Karchner Prep. Oh, well… I thought as I began to navigate my way through the throng of teenagers to my first class, at least I – Suddenly, probably as a result of staring at my schedule, trying to memorize it, I ran into someone walking the opposite way.
“Oh, hey, dude, I’m sorry. I should’ve watched where I was going.” This from the guy I had hit. He was about my height, six-three, and had streaky blond hair. He looked like he could be an Abercrombie model; he was dressed in light yellow khakis and a white polo. He was also absolutely gorgeous. Little thing you should probably know about me: I’m gay. I have been since, well, forever. That’s why my mom and I had to move here. My dad is a full-on rainbow hater, so he couldn’t stand me. It made for a lot of tense family dinners. Finally, my mom decided enough was enough, so we packed our bags and moved. I think we’re both happier, now.
Anyway, I was standing there staring at this guy like some kind of idiot, which never used to happen to me. “Um…hello? Are you okay?” He looked at me like I was slightly stupid, which it must have seemed like I was.
