Chapter 1 - Gwen

Everyone teases me for my name - Gwendolyn. But I think that it is nice, so I ignore them. Only my firends are nice to me, not calling me names or anything. Not many people call me Gwen, they all call me by my long name. So, I don't usually get surprised when people call me by the name I want. Except when He asked me a question. It was the first time he actually noticed me, in history class on the 16th of September. He said, 'Do you know what day it is today?'. I thought it was a stupid question, but I answered anyway. 'Of course I do, it is the 16th of September.' 'And what has happened on this date for the last 15 years?' I looked through my memory for events on this date, that has happened for exactly 15 years, 'Well, people are born, people have died, people have made history, and people have had birthdays. The only reason you would have asked me something like that is that you are testing my knowledge, and I believe it is something to do with you.'
I ran through all the possibilities, crossing them out as I went. 'You havn't been born 15 years in a row, you havn't died, you havn't yet made substantial history, so, it must be your birthday?' I hoped I was right.
'How did you know that?' He asked me. I thought that it wouldn't be a very good idea to tell him that I knew almost everything about him. So I looked for a reason, and found one.
'The birthday badge on your blazer!'
'Oh.' He seemed upset.
'I don't mean to be mean or anything I was only answering your question and I.....' He was holding his hand up, signalling me to stop.
