Like a flower,
It will bloom with time,
Like a balloon,
Blow it up and sparks will fly,
Like an eagle,
It will soar forever with you in mind,
It will live with your name implanted in the center.
Without you it would be misery,
But with you it would be splendor.

Like a game,
You break the rules and you’re out,
Like a dedicated baseball player,
Winning is all they talk about,
Like a child,
Crying and screaming with joy,
Bursting with love when given a toy,
Like a boy,
Looking down with guilt,
As the rose petals begin to wilt,
As the girl’s eyes begin to water,
He looks away and said,
Don’t even bother.

Like a heart,
Breaking into fragments,
They once were as close as magnets,
He walked away with a sad timid smile in her direction,
Knowing that she would soon offer someone else her affection.

Without a backwards glance or smile,
He stood with his back to her for a while,
And he thought.

Like a book,
When you come to a bump in the road turn to a new chapter,
When you are sad and in doubt turn your tears into laughter.

He turned around and pulled her into his arms,
Crying as he held her.

They looked so sad,
They were still so mad,
But they were mostly glad.
